happylamper 7 Posted November 15, 2009 Report Share Posted November 15, 2009 right lads can someone tell if this is a confidance thing.my bitch is 12 mth old just getting her out on the lamp now first couple times she ran the rabbits well,but when i took her the other night she did'nt seem to go down the lamp very well she'd run so far then turns back half way down the beam,i got abit fed up walk miles did'nt see many rabbits as it was anyhow i see's a rabbit close slipped her on it she ran it up and down the edge 3 or 4 times she caught it brought it back live to hand i was chuffed to bits.anyhow carry's on lamping for a few more feilds not much about a few in the distance slips her same again half way down the beam then she turned back.she has'nt got no injuries or owt she's quite fit not 100% but fit enough, only useing a 140 lightforce.any advice would be great cheers.atb hl Quote Link to post

She seems an intelligent bitch ......she's not seeing the ones at the extreme of the beam and doesn't see the point of running for no reason. Take that as a good sign, and as suggested give her some nice easy slips to build her confidence up and she will turn out a "Good Un" I'm sure. More potenially good dogs are ruined by entering too early in my opinion, so take it nice and slowly, you wouldn't expect a boy to do a mans job would you.....Good Luck. Regards Rolfe. happylamper 7 Posted November 18, 2009 Author Report Share Posted November 18, 2009 just an up date,took my bitch out last night first feild vermin wire my mate slips first my bitch up on her back legs bouncing to be off,next slip mine off she goes on to the rabbit but yapping she caught it brought it back to hand praised her highly.next feild walks upto a sitter slips her no yapping i thought thats better brought it back to hand.said to my mate she's getting better,walk a couple more feilds slip her on a rabbit not too far away she went down the beam so far then turned back,i thought no not again,so decided to walk back towards the motor found a sitter she had it at the end of her nose sets off but did'nt get it.so all in all she caught 3 rabbits out of 6/7 slips.
