What to feed?

Recommended Posts

I use either wheat or barley, which ever is easiest for the farmer to get at. People have told me that one or the other is best but I haven't noticed any difference. I have also used waste potatoes from a farm that also work well but smashing them up is a pain.

I have also been told to use rape and grass seed to bring in more teal but never tried it.

Any feed done consistently will work.

The value of potato peelings, banana skins, etc., is not as a direct food but because they encourage invertebrates that the ducks then eat.

No need to mash the tatties - put them in whole. They will then decompose at different rates and provide long-term benefit.

As far as grain is concerned, barley seems to be preferred but no need to buy good quality grain. The sweepings from under the driers will do fine.
