old stomping ground should i phone or not

Recommended Posts

i have recently got back to hunting (three years now) after a ten year lay off. i used to hunt nearly every saturday during the season with my grandad from the age of 7-18. then he took unwell so we stopped going.

i decided to start up again when someone moved next door who owned ferrets.Anyway, i managed to track down the phone number of a farmer that we used to hunt for and he remembered me and said i could come back no problems. i have now just recently been talking to one of the guys who used to go with us and he mentioned another farmers name. so looked up the name in the phone book for the general area and one name has come up. my query is should i phone the number a hope that it is the same guy? and what do i say?

my major problem is that i never paid to much attention to how we got to the ground when i was younger but when i get there i normally remember most of the burrows.

anyone any suggestions :-[ :-[

Go and see him far better than a phone call mate

my only problem with that is that its about seventy miles away i dont drive so would have to convince hunting buddy to drive down with the chance of a knock back . i am not sure the number and address ive got is the right person. dont want to look like a d**k turning up at someones door who is not the person i am looking for :wallbash::icon_redface:

i got my lad to do me some cards with my phone number on, ive handed loads out to different people where i can see they have a rabbit problem, so far nobody has got in touch its far better to go in person as farmers seem to find it harder to say no face to face a bit like the swap your gas supplyer bloke who comes to the door and you end up changing although you had no intention 10 minites ago

well folks bit the bullet a phoned. it was the right place but it was the son of the original farmer. he said thathe had a few regulars on and that they had commented on small numbers of bunnies in area. he has kept my number and if he needs me he will give me a call.

oh well better luck next time :wallbash:

At least you tried mate,i went back today to a place that i have just a field to do but will allways get a few from there and stopped and spoke to the farmer and he's got a few hedge rows he wants doing and asked if i can clear his moles off his lawn.I said yes i can shift them and he remembered some more land to ferret he's got, might even get a bit of lamping out of him as he didn't mind the dogs around his cows when i was ferreting, just got to catch them moles now and allways worth seeing them face to face.
