Now, here's a funny thing..

Recommended Posts

I'm watching the Grey dig holes in my lawn for his winter food store as I write this, I also have 2 fox families living either side of my house, I see the Roe and Muntjac from time to time next to me and the occasional Pheasant, Badger, Hedgehog....very few bunnies...and YET....

I leave them all alone!

The fox is a great waste disposal system for me, I chuck him everything I don't need, squirrel, rabbit, goose, whatever and it just disappears overnight, best he has taken is 62 rabbits in 3 days, he must have been worn out carrying them all away and burying them.

The Squirrel I leave as he is a good indicator of general seasonal activity, the Badger, Hedgehog, Deer, Pheasant, I leave for obvious reasons and simply because I like to see them around the place!

So..do you shoot in or next to your home?? :hmm:

In the garden here, there is now an abundance of song birds, whereas when we moved here, it was next to nothing. It may sound like a cliche but I have controlled the Magpies and Crows in the garden, there are no squirrels here and I think its helped them along.

I maintain that if they're not doing any harm, they can stay. Just the same as I don't shoot foxes on the arable farms I shoot over, he cleans up the dead crows and things for me, so I'm happy enough for him to stay.

i only shoot "pests"

if its not a "pest" i'll leave it be.

no doubt they will be a "pest" elsewhere, so be it, they will get dealt with accordingly by whoever.

to many people want to shoot everything in sight, they are the creators of there own drought, and the first to complain !!!!!

cheers
