Ferret Bully

Recommended Posts

Has anyone heard or had a ferret that bullies the others. I have an 18 month old jill who when she has been put in my main court singles out and attacks the same 2 kits every time. She is on her own at the moment but she is no good if she cant or wont get over this problem.

If she is a good working jill, i would try and sort the problem out.

Could be just pecking order, how old are the kits?

Is their other ferrets in the court and has she been with these other ferrets for long?

Frank.

has she lived on her own untill you put her in the court, if so i would forget it, thats a reason i dont keep jills cant be doing with the fights, if she is happy living alone i would leave her, jills can be right stroppy cows when they want to be

She was in the court with the others prior to the two kits arriving with no problems what so ever. I put the 2 kits in the court and straight away they were attacked by this jill. I thought that it may have been pecking order at first so i seperated the kits, waited a couple of weeks and then introduced the kits to all the other ferrets one or two at a time on a neutral ground. When I thought that all was well I placed them back in the court and straight away this same jill attacked them, so I removed her and placed her in with my hob thinking that she was hormonal and that this would calm her down. Two weeks on I placed her back in the court, this time with the hob and she went straight for the same 2 kits, ignoring all the others. This was an attack not just a hormonal ragging. She is now back in my small court all on her own until i decide what to do with her.

Ive had the same thing the past two years with two different jills, only problem is though they go for the ferrets they have been living with for ages afterwards.

My jill off TOMO keeps trying to kill an albino jill kit i recently got so i seperated her for a week or so, tried her again today and she still does it, then attacked a jill she's lived with for a year and it was proper kicking off. Put her in with a hob kit and she is playing away like a kit with him

Hopefully if it is just hormones she will stop soon and calm down. Can someone let us know when there hobs and jils start coming out of season?
