The_ferreter_ 0
i have 1 albinho hob who will be about 4-5 months old. i go ferreting with my mate but we dont really know how old he will have to be because he is already the size of his dad. help please!!!! Quote Link to post
BEARINATOR 2,924
Give him ago mate, put him down next to the hole and let him have a good sniff about for a couple of minutes. When he see's the hole or gets the scent of a rabbit his curiosity should lead him down into the set. Make sure you have a collar on him and good luck with your ferreting Quote Link to post

Marksman 934
Mine is round about the same age mate and I took mine out for the first time last weekend. They both done great and picked it up no problems. It's entirely up to yourself mate but I'm glad I took mine as it also seems to have calmed them down a lot too good luck in whatever you decide and lets see some pics if you do Darryl Quote Link to post

BEARINATOR 2,924
I'm going on some land around morrpeth as the farmer wants them cleared so it's pest control not sport but fun being out anyway, we'll have a trip out later in the season mate. It's hard to get land around here as i've asked a few for permission but with no luck Quote Link to post
pegstaff 9
imo he still a bit young yet he may find a stubborn bunny and get kicked about abit try sending him down with a older ferret and try not to show it to much action start on little burrys just so he gets the hang of things i dont start working mine to about 7/8 months but thats me im sure others will have differant opinions atb 8shot i agree with you. i have tried to tell my mate that i would rather wait another few months, as i dont see the hurry to get the ferret working. not if it means he could get kicked about. i have the mother and father that we can use for now. the ferret lives at mine and i dont think me is mature enough as i caught a rabbit the other day and he seemed to not know what to do with it, i have a 15 metre pipe and i put the rabbit in it and when i put the ferret in he just wasnt bothered. so i had to put the mother in to get the rabbit out. there is still time for him to turn ito a good worker yet.
