Guest Ditch_Shitter
Ok, maybe I should've put this under Classifieds? I wasn't sure because it's something apart from the usual for there. What it is, I have a rather old and quite precious trap here. Many of you will recognise and remember these. It was sold as the " Hoodie Net Trap ", by 'GILPA'. Only mine's now a bit more trap and less net " Hoodie " So, I need a well equipped man (MATRON!!!) to make me a replacement. Well equipped because this thing wasn't just slung over with an old purse net. It uses a thicker twine. So, obviously not worth my while to learn to make nets, then buy a whole bail of the right twine. But a doddle for anyone with the stuff to hand and the hands to do the stuff. Anyone out there, please? Net measures about 15" x 15". Need any more info', please just PM me
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Yes, mate. Basicly. I don't know if ye can make it out in that shot there ~ I only showed that to give the idea ~ but it actually has a sort of small cup, to place an egg on. Crow pecks the egg and the net - which is shown there in the fired position - snaps over the top of him. Boosh! I don't know why these traps never really took off. But they didn't. Maybe because they incorperate a spring into their action? Fact being that some damn clerk, while 'tidying up' the British Statutes misinterpreted the old, 1954 Act where it forbade use of a " Springle " (small, powered snare, of course) to take any bird. That din re wrote it as " Spring " and f***ed up an entire generations means of legally and harmlessly taking pest species! :realmad: I note, these days however, how the powers that be appear to at last be turning a blind eye to the incorperation of springs on the doors of many Larsen Traps. Drag me up in front of a british bench on grounds of using a spring in such a way and I'd give them a run for their money, I can tell you! Maybe even manage to get some sense restored to the statute

Guest Ditch_Shitter
Found someone to make me the fresh net (Must go and measure that mesh, presently! Lot on) Moley and DW; So, I like things like this. You like things like this. I'm bloody sure there's a fair few others here too who simply get a warm feeling from just gazing at the old tools ( What the f*** is it with this thread?!) No one wants to be scrolling through endless columns of four inch rabbit traps. But I suspect, between us and encouraging any others out there, we could probably entertain ourselves, down in the Trapping board, with a few more shots and exchanges. Don't you? Let's face it, probably a Good third of the readers on here are likely just kids. They weren't around in the seventies, let alone the fifties. Probably blissfully unaware that a lot of the stuff the likes of us have stashed away ever even existed. Reckon it could do much harm to pull the odd example out. Dust it off and bang it up there for an airing? Just glanced over my shoulder at an old, commercially manufactured and sold Ferret Box, from around seventy years back. That'd still give those Real Tree things a run for their money. What do you guys reckon? Should we show them a thing or two?

Guest Ditch_Shitter
Nothing wrong with the posession of Gin Traps what so ever, BM. We don't live in New Jersey just yet, thank god. Get caught setting one though and you deserve everything you'd get. Found a few myself in my time; Set openly on rabbit runs. Stuffed up rabbit burrows. Always used to look before putting a ferret down for that very reason. Incidentally; Ricky tells me he's Very well eqipped. My sort of man then! :11: Job done. But now I'm also being told those Hoodie traps can be had again - brand new? Anyone heard about that, please? Just curious, really.
