Bosun11 537
One....... It's called the Lakeland terrier. Though if you mean how many different terrier types come from the Lakes & North Yorks areas you have the Lakeland, Patterdale (or black Fell), Fell terrier (covers all bases!) and maybe you could put Border-Lakeland in that bunch too (though that name seems to be getting rarer, most just refered to as Fell's). david2363 42
Hello How many types of lakeland terrier are there? only one kc called lakeland terrier, but many variaties of fell terriers, all different in looks but all the same in attitude, there are many different lines,n beck, buck breay, parks, middleton and ward to name a few, they now call the black smooth bullish types patterdales but it is not a term used much up here in the north as its a village called patterdale and the smooths are known as slape coated fell terriers, and many years ago a lot were just called border lakelands but tyey werent a cross between the two just another fell strain alot also had bedlington in there blood aswell, but that was before they had whippet and poodle in them and alot of miners in northumberland used them for more intense sports than hunting another kennel club freak nowadays, funbob Hey Bumfob I thought I told you before that some of us still have strains of Bedlington with no whippet or poodle blood in them. And they go down holes and do a job too. Quote Link to post
