statrting a young lurcher

Recommended Posts

Hello

I'm new to this site and new to working dogs. My 12 year old has an interest in fishing and has now taken a interest in hunting. I bought him a bedlington whippet cross which he has trained to receive, sit, stay etc. and I was wondering how old he should be before he can start on rabbits. Local boys have given us loads of different ages.

Cheers Chris

:welcome: to THL

should prob start running him at about 8-9 months old, but take it easy wit him, dont expect to much at a young age.. 1 or 2 runs at a time is plenty then leave him for another few days or a week.. main thing is not to over do it wit him n keep him interested, if he gets too much too soon he'l lose interest n confidence..

Hope this helps..
