Rabbithunter 456
Well, i can stand a bit of barking during the day but when its waking me up a 2:00AM every morning then something has to be done. He's always been a barker, so i bought an anti bark collar from ebay, it was great until the batteries ran out. I ordered extra batteries, off several ebay members and the longest they ever last was 3 or 4 days. Recently the nighttime barking got worse, and the decision was made that he would have "to go" He was out 3 times on sunday, i reckon he did 8 miles behind the car in total from "two trips" and then i took him lamping, and he was still barking at 2AM Reluctantly, he was advertised. I was taking him out for his walk on monday and bumped into a man that was walking his greyhonds. SO i asked him if he knew of anyone looking for a lurcher. He didnt, and i explained the situation. He asked me if i had tried an anti bark muzzle. He mentioned that he had one that i could try out. So that night i went to collect the muzzle from this man, and put it on the dog at about 10PM HE was silent throughout he night. A complete stranger had stopped me gettiing rid of my dog and saved a lot of heartache. He didnt want a penny for the muzzle, but in return i have dropped him some rabbits off for his greyhounds, and i will try to shoot a roebuck (.243 not lurcher) to give to him this week as a big thank you. Anyway, my point is, if your dogs barking is getting on your (and your neighbours) nerves then do try an anti bark muzzle.... Sure, you have to put it on the dog at night, and be up at a sensible time to remove it. But it WILL save you getting rid of your dog, or buying expensive anti bark collars. Rabbithunter 456
not 100% mate but it may be illegal to leave a muzzled dog unattended like i said not sure just a thought so if i dont muzzle it - i get the council on my case if i do - i get the RSPCA on my case? The dog can still lap water up through his muzzle, so i cant see there being an animal welfare case

Rabbithunter 456
"used responsibly" if they are words from the rspca then it could mean anything
Rabbithunter 456
I feel i must add : This was my last choice. Either muzzle or get rid. Although the dog can still "lap" water up through the muzzle, i wouldnt leave the dog muzzled for prolonged periods of time
TOMO 29,368
well at least you have sorted your problem but could you not have yoused rechargble batteries in the collar
hessy1 10
does the dog still bark now when you take the muzzle off
Rabbithunter 456
well at least you have sorted your problem but could you not have yoused rechargble batteries in the collar TOMO, they are an odd type of self contained battery's. It Consists of the battery & battery "cap" in one unit. But, the muzzle is doing the trick at the moment In fact, just been speaking to the "stranger" who very kindly gave me the muzzle
