I must admit iam not convinced by this minshaw myth , I think there just good lurcher x good lurcher . I think a lot of the people who have them are just good commited dogmen who put the hours into there dogs an get results because of it imho . I hazard a guess your dog you have of non minshaw breeding will serve you well andy an kill as much game . You never did answer me my question though ;) .

i think chilli has hit the spot with the right answer its more about the owner then the dog

were minshaws single handed fox dogs?? or just used for lamp on rabbit and hare.

Ever felt that you have travelled this way before? What is this thread adding to the original thread now in the archives? it's the same old arguments same questions. All i know is the evidence of the game this strain has killed is contained in countless photographs both on the archive on this site and in the photo album owned by vic minshaw which i have seen and was gobsmacked by. As I have by the photos on ASD s posts. If anybody has evidence that their particular dogs or strain of dogs has killed anything like the amount of game minshaw dogs have killed then put up the evidence. I for one would love to see it . If nobody can then minshaw dogs are special lamp dogs unsupassed by any other dogs or strain of dogs.

i did i put up a picture of a typical nights lamping in march with 45 rabbits on it only to be shot down by minshaw followers then i thought i would leave it at that asd knows his dogs and good on him but like i said i beleave its more the person then the strain but a bit of both helps more

i think he wanted to know if they are as good on there own as they are doubled up :)

i'll have to get a scanner because i could put well over a thousand images of the bigger quarry taken single handed over the last four year alone with dogs from various crosses ;)

them pups andy wher ment to be very good and where kept close and worked hard for the

reasonable amount of game over here i have been told.

and alot of people keep lurchers of any breed just for fashion.

but i have been lucky to be out with some of the top lads at the hare coursing and

can say they are comming back in numbers in dublin and in louth there has alway been a good amount

and still is with alot of people comming down from northtern ire to these spots

just for it.still possible to catch three or four hares with the right dog on daytime hares single handed.

lamping wise i am just hopefull that things get back to their numbers they once where.

but i refuse to let the bad nights get to me and will find the work work for my pups next season

even if i have to travel up north to the rabbiting hotspots my northern friends have promiced to

show me this season..

otherwise i think most dogs in ire are worked with some more than others and enen tough most

of the shows over here are very small there its easy to see lurchers are still getting plenty

of work.

my missus would love me to move to scotland a country with that much game might tempt me

in years to come.

all the best

All these questions have all ready been answered on the minshaw thread, and when you lads say its down to the person not the strain, your the lads who come across as if you put the time into your dogs so why not run your dog along side a minshaw dog and see if its capable of these high numbers

This being posible in the lamping competition in a few months time :thumbs-up:

Its always the same when it comes to the crunch, talk is cheap but when asked to put up all the old excuses come up to old, work commitments, injury LOL LOL LOL.JMO.

I personaly wont be entering the competition because my dog isnt good enough at lamped rabbits.

If this type of lurcher is so good and worth keeping how come you havnt got a younger dog/dogs coming on to replace the old one?

i wont be running in the copetition either because to be honest rabbits and hares dont interest me at all nowadays :)

as someone said earlier it's the dedicated owner that makes a dog providing the quarry and land are right because in my oppinion any half right dog can kill rabbits and hares on the lamp in numbers. ;)

Well lads/lasses i have explained several times on various threads why i will NOT have a Minshaw bred dog for this years competition,i have an old bitch called Kelsey who will be 11 year old in September and Jack will be 10 in the very near future, although i will be running him this season i won't be entering him in the competition,a couple of lads have said they would like to see my dogs run and i have invited both of them for a night or two out with my dog,the two lads are Longdogrunner who i have spoke to several times on the phone and he is one keen lad and i'm looking forward to having a few runs out with him,the other lad is Tomo,i haven't spoken personally to him but i will do and we will hopefully arrange a night or two out this winter, both these lads can then say how shite or not shite my dog is,i have nothing to hide or prove with my dogs.Imo i think running a near 10 year old dog (equvalent to nearly 70 years in human terms) is asking a little too much, after all how many 70 year olds do you see taking part in the Olympics  .Cheers Andy. :)

I wasn't refering to you but one of the dogs superstriker is talking of, his quote "why not run your dog along side a minshaw dog and see if its capable of these high numbers" So surely he will be able to point someone with one of these dogs towards taking part in the competition?

hey stupid c**t have you got any dogs or you just one of these keyboard hunters if you have are you entering this comp????

and the minshaw dog i was meaning was any of the minshaw dogs in general, and what i meant by that was seeing as certain folk think any half decent dog will catch large numbers of rabbit/hare on the lamp lets have a run out and see, then itll put all this talking to an end

there seems to be few folk on here who say they have good dogs but no ones seems able to come forward with there dog and run it with a minshaw on hares to see if there dog is as good as a minshaw for stamina

:laugh::laugh: Don't get so worked up. I don't know anyone with Minshaw dogs so if you would be so good as to point one or two that you know in the direction of the comp then it would prove your doubters wrong, would it not?
