hi folk does any have a salukigrayhound that al take foxes or are they all soft as brushes :11:

In my experience they are very variable, I have had saluki/greys that wouldnt take a fox on their own and others that would make most bull crosses look like cissies

i've seen a few that could kill foxes but they were'nt seeing them regular enough imo to be classed as 100%, imo there's fox killers in every cross but most of the time the amount of regular foxes they get determines the time it's classed as a "fox dog". ;)

I would agree that you will find fox killers in almost any type of lurcher, not least because almost all lurchers have greyhound or whippet blood and most greys and whippets will tackle fox with great enthusiasm. Most crosses are variable on fox. The single best fox dog I have seen was a 3/4 greyhound/collie who killed large numbers of foxes single handed day and night, including many multiples. The most consistent in my experience are deerhound/greys and bull/greys the most variable are collie and saluki crosses. Back in the late 1970's I owned 25" a 5/8 grey / 2/8 saluki 1/8 collie dog who looked very saluki-like and who absolutely slaughtered foxes but sadly was killed in his third season. A few years back a good friend had a first cross saluki/grey bitch (out of a very keen fox killing ex-track bitch) who killed an awful lot of foxes single handed, but I have had others saluki crosses who reall wernt keen to tackle on their own.

i dont think there is many good strong breeds of deerhounds about now

No mate, but there are quite a lot of soft-headed whippet boys running around!
