Kay i think your a tad too late....(bad joke i know)...the toads around here left the ponds about 2 weeks ago. Kay you will be quite lucky to see them in some instances. One method i can recommend is if there is any old carpet lying around the bankside then lay a piece of it in the gras about a metre or so from the waters edge. You will find that both frogs and toads once left the water for the first time will shelter under it until they resume travelling in nightfall....

If you dont have carpet then a piece of ply or board can sometimes act as a refuge too. I have a regular place here that i can always find our warty amphibians under, old Bufo will often ignore me too after he has been a photos-star a few times......Good luck...JD

Frogs dont tend to travel far from water but toads are far more at home in dry conditions.Watched a heron going beserk a while back, darting its beak everywhere, and on flushing it i saw the reason why .Couldnt step without moving froglets .Disused canal with a healthy weed growth was very frog freindly this year .
