Phantom 631
Ladies and Gentlemen, I like to shoot my springer but I am (when funds permit) looking to buy a very cheap PCP and it HAS TO be WHISPER quiet so the silencer has to be very, very effective. The reason is: My neighbours have decided to kick up a fuss about me shooting in the garden. I've lived here for nearly 25 years and have always gotten on well with them. I have been shooting in the garden for over a year now without any hassle. One neighbour, claimed that I had fired a pellet that had hit the chair that she was sitting on!! I can not understand how she reckoned that because: Firstly: This alleged incident happened a good 10 mins after I fired a .22 piece of lead into the soft soil (I do not leave any of my guns loaded for any reason!). Secondly she ASKED "Have you fired a pellet recently?" If I had hit her chair while she was sat on it she would have complained immediately and she would have been (or at least I would have) rather shaken up by it. Thirdly she showed me the offending projectile that hit the chair. Now I am sorry, but even the best bloody alchemist in the world can not change an AA Field Diablo .22 chunk of lead into a tiny (and I mean tiny 2mm diameter, if that) rusting ball of steel!!!!! Yes, that's what she showed me; at best half the size of a.177! and very rusty I showed her the tin of AA's that I had sat at the side of my rifle and said politely "I'm sorry but wherever that came from, it did not come from me or my gun and if I had put that in my gun it would have just fallen through onto the lawn" I explained to her that it wouldn't even fit in my pistols and dont put steel down my co2 pistols the only bb's I use are the Gamo Lead ones. The other neighbour came out shouting the odds later that evening and ordering me to put my rifle away. He claims that his wife won't come out into the garden while I'm firing my pistols or rifles because I'm terrorising her! FFS. He too claims that my pellets (that are being fired at my pellet catcher that has an inch of plumbers mate putty to catch the pellets) are bouncing back out of the back of my big shed, doing a ninty degree left turn, jumping the 30 or so feet over his property and landing in his neighbours garden. Incidently he doesn't speak to them because they upset him by putting a 6ft fence round their back garden so I would love to know how he claims they have been complaining. Anyway's even though I know I am legal and I know I can legally shoot in my own back yard, I politely told him that I would not shoot anymore in the garden if it was causing his wife distress and I would limit my shooting to my permission. I also went round (after I had calmed down) and asked to speak to his wife, he said that she wouldn't see me. I insisted that I only wanted to appologise to her face for any distress that I had caused. Eventually he allowed me to speak to her and she explained that she saw a young boy shot in the eye with an air gun when she was at school (she's over 90 years old and still looks at the young end of sixty). I can understand her fear and I said "I would have stopped immediately if you had just asked me. There was no need for your husband to come out demanding and threatening like he did" So anyways I figured I will not shoot in the garden until I have a silent rifle to use with my silent backstop. They can't see my pellet trap at the back of my shed and its a case of what they dont know wont hurt them. So I want a very quiet but very cheap (as I am on incapacity at the moment) PCP rifle. Any ideas as to which rifle would fit the criteria? Oh yes finally, I suppose I would wind up using it for hunting as well. ATB Phantom Quote Link to post
Guest air gunner
That sounds very frustrating! I can understand her distress but i cant however understand peoples incentive to accuse people of things that are quite frankly none of their bussiness. You could get one of those rat catcher things for plinking? Quote Link to post
SEAN3513 7
good starter pcp thats accurate, light and quiet is a logun solo........with a logun qgs silencer......can be converted to 10 shot. as long as you get a gun with a 1/2" unf screw cut barrel or an adapter fit a weihrauch silencer or as above ( logun qgs) and it will be as quiet as you will get it all the best sean Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
Tell him you know someone who got run over by a doddering old twat, but you wouldn't stop him driving if he wanted to, even if is scared you shitless everytime you passed his gate. This is why I am one day going to move so I have no bloody neighbors. Feel for you mate. I had a guy from the Council come round this morning! He told me to ignore them as long as I am legal. (or at least give them a set time and days that I would like to shoot) them! The guy who gave me the abuse gave me an (of sorts) appology for the way in wich he had objected saying he had 'over reacted' and told me he should have gone about it in a less cofrontational way! I told him what the guy from the council (I know he saw the guy come into the house) had said and told him that I will still shoot (as I am legally entitled to do so), but I won't do it to excess and as the secretary and a range safety officer of an international club I take safety very seriously. He accepted there was nothing he could really do about it and as far as I am concerned thats the end of it. I am still thinking about a Silenced PCP though. Been looking at reviews of the Logun Solo, looks very nice and think it would suit me. Used a HW100K (I think) once last year and it fitted me like a glove, but price is way out of my league at the moment. I quite like the Logun S16 & 16 Evo again very pricy for me at the moment. Oh well one day perhaps! Phantom Quote Link to post
