In effect, Firearms Law, is the same across the UK Just not enforced the same!

 

You will need to put in for a variation on your FAC for a Pistol be it a .410, .22, .32 etc etc

 

If I had the choice, for terrier work, I'd have a .410. Hand things and with a 2" shell, perfectly adequate for human despatch.

 

The only exemption within the current ban on Pistols is for Human Despatch. You will need to put this as your "Good Reason" for wanting one and your FEO will probably visit to ask you why you need it. If you can satisfy the need to have one i.e. you have Terriers, then the Police should grant it to you, if not and they have no valid reason, it is in breach of the law.

 

They are relatively common in circulation and you should be able to find one through a fairly big RFD.

can you pick them up cheap enuff? just looked on gun trader and the 410 pistol that was there was the dearest of them all lol £695 for a pistol?

was told this use a sub 12-air rifle for everyday use dispatching foxes on a daily basis .only hunt terriermen and slaughtermen get them .so i have to lug around the streets of london a gun case with me everyone looking at me rather than havein a hidden pistol ?? the law is 8ollock's

Definately don't ask for on for "human despatch"

 

Although if they granted it you'd have a superb defence in court.
