Edd_Wiltshire 9
Was doing the washing up when a section came onto the news about the number of animal related offences increasing. They had a woman on there from a wildlife sanctuary/resue place then a number of recent problems, a hedgehog being used as a football etc etc. The one that surprised me was 2 hares that were nailed to a five bar gate. This seemed strange to me, must be one of 2 things: A - Landowner confronts coursing folk on his land, words are exchanged and they do that to spite the farmer. B - Antis from the area possibley being sick of the lack of police monitoring so they planted them onto the gate, this also looks good for any Anti - Propaganda in future. If it was actually A then they need stringing up, it's muppetry of this nature that brings heat on regular folk who go about their hobbie/work without wanting plod's big noses casting a shadow. Take it easy Edd

fin and fur 2
I too saw that news item and was sickened by the cruelty that some people seem to display at random to animals. I guess we will never know who the perpetrators are, but if i had to field an opinion i would say the hedgehogs were victims of either stupid children whos parents have failed to show them the very basics of right from wrong, or ignorant drunks who think its fun to kick a defenceless animal around. The Hares are potentially a different matter, i am making the assumption that they were dead when nailed to the gate post and could therefore have been placed there by poachers who intended to pick them up later, nailing them up on a post to prevent foxes from reaching them, to be honest there could be a million and one reasons why people do such things, and if the Hare was still alive at the time then thats yet a different matter altogether. I guess anyone who uses this site and hunts in a responsible manner with respect for their quarry, will never know what goes on inside the minds of such people
