training a lakeie/jack/cairn terrier cross

hi guys my best mate has just got the above from some travellers (long story) and was hopeing to train him as a rabbiter?

 

hes 8 weeks at the mo and i know this is a bit young to start training but we relly want to get prepared for him. at the mo hes defo got potential, he head shakes teddys and wants to chase and bite teddys already, hes fearless already. he has only been at my friends house for a few days and settleing in really well.

 

i belive hes come from working stock but cant be sure.

 

so if anyone out there can help us out that would be great.

I would try him on a bigger teddy first just to make sure he is game

when the dog is 14 weeks go to the local pet shop and get some young rats this will help and as he gets older try the older ones then rabbits this will bring him on a great deal if you want him to go to ground the fresh dead fox thats road kill will also get him to taste and smell the animal keep us posted how he getting on i have 2 lakies so i know the older they get the harder they get good luck mike.
