Guest air gunner
yesterday i bit the bullet and went round the local villages with a mate knocking on the doors of farmers. we managed to speak to one who read our letter and took our details saying he would get back to us. The next was very moody. One guy we met wanted a ferreter for a riding school so we may pop in there to see what we can do. and the last proved to be very evasive. So we popped into the gamekeepers and left our number so a small bit of luck so far however how often do you ask and the farmer never gets back to you? Just an update. wish me luck. When you first set out to get perrmission you'll get knocked back a lot, the trick is not to get dissheartened and keep plodding on, one day a land owner will see to many rabbits on his land and think of you, then your in Quote Link to post

mushroom 14,272
get some pemission forms set up ready to sign (google it you'll find them on the net), make sure you've got insurance and when stupid reasons are given for not granting permission just smile and go back in six moths and try again. references from other permissions are always a good idea aswell. mention things like keeping an eye on his stock/land and if you have any spare time offer to lend a hand i've never asked for money ( for one if i recieve cash my BASC insurance is void) but have found my local farmers don't mind shouting a round or two in return. but most of all do not get disheartned persistance wil eventually pay off :clapper: Quote Link to post
John-B 4
keep knocking mate and don't feel rejected, I lost my permission years ago and couldn't be bothered to go looking for new permissions, last year me and my mate Col bit the bullet went for a drive and got knocking, started off with 1 farm and now have all the farms surrounding it and loads of others, much more than we could possibly do in 1 day, i have a couplke of letters somewhere that you could modify to your own requirements if they are any use to you feel free to use them, also have some business cards I knocked up. just give a couple of business cards out on your new permissions when they see you are doing a good job and loads more will follow Letter_of_permission.doc Letter_of_permission_3.doc Business_card.doc Quote Link to post
