Trying to make the best out of a bad night

Recommended Posts

I worked through dinner today at work so that we could get away early to go fishing. The weather seemed ok and id heard the mackeral had started to show up.When we got to the pier the wind was building up and the sea was getting a bit choppy and it didnt look good.Plenty of lads were trying for mackeral but nobody had caught any.All we had for bait was mackeral as we werent staying long and i quickly caught two small Flounder. However it all went quiet for us as the lads who had brought ragworm with them started to haul up canny sized flatties two and three at a time.Ive caught flatties on mackeral before but tonight only the rag was really pulling them in.Its extremelly frustrating to watch other anglers totally out fishing you even if you hadnt gone to do the type of fishing they are.

Anyway i came home feeling pretty down so stuck the gun in the motor and had an hours ratting.I forgot the litter picker so couldnt get all the bodies back even though i could clearly see them laid dead in the cracks. You can see the back leg of a rat in the pic but when i looked at it i thankfully i saw another rats head just inside the hole.Call me soft but im not sticking my hand in there :D

I finished with ten rats so it ended up an ok night..............could have been better though :D:D
