Fieldsports Store

Recommended Posts

I want to open a Fieldsports Store in my area but ive no experience in retail but ive got experience in most aspects of hunting and i think i could provide a good service as theres no good place around that caters for hunting enthusiasts such as myself and there's alot of them about.. Most people i know either travel miles or order their equipment online..

Is there anyone here thats opened one or that could point me in the right direction of some places that could help me with some stock..

Cheers folks..

Pa

Hi mate,

I sell bird tables, rustic garden furniture and dog kennels and when im at shows iv had quite a few irish people saying that they cant find our sort of stuff at home and if they can it costs a fortune, much more than we sell it for over here. Im not saying you have to sell what we sell but do not limit yourself to fieldsports kit if youve any doubt about making it pay. Look for any gap in the market to get on your feet then start to introduce things that you have a passion for and would like to sell.

When I started working for myself I did it with as little risk as possible. Find a terrier/country show and get a stall, this will allow you to build up stock and find out what sells and play about with suppliers. Also do as much free advertising as you can before you pay for it. Fifty home made fliers given out at a hunt meet or clay shoot can be better than a £200 quid advert where only townies will see it.
