sureshot 0
my ferret has ticks and every time i pull them off i put him in his hutch the next time i handle him they are all over him again what ia the best way to make sure they are all dead. Does any one know any special treatments for fleas and ticks for ferrets? eddie i used to have this problem with my hob so i boiled the hutch out and with the ticks on the BODY not near the ears i would put cooking oil on them after 5 mins they would just fall off and the i would hit the tick with a hammer to make sure it was dead.. Guest sam
you can use frontline to keep the fleas away! but if you use shredded paper instead of straw you wont get any ticks in the hucth! thats what i use its better than straw!! Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
I tipped a hutch cause i couldnt get rid of the ticks, i even left the hutch empty for well over 6 months & the first ferret i put in it was covered in ticks within a week Quote Link to post
Ron Weasley 83
It must be down to the bedding you're using then. Straw is a big NO for ferret bedding, in my opinion. I use hay, but I check my ferrets over every day for ticks. I haven't had a tick for months, and the last one we had was picked up in some long grass. Shredded paper is good bedding for ferrets, but don't use newspaper, as the ink is quite poisonous. Quote Link to post
