a few reds from the cut grass

Recommended Posts

I thought that i might pop out for a couple of hours with a mate to have a little look seeing as they cut he grass the day before, i pick him up at about 10pm and we headed off, just as we slowly head down the lane to the first fields i took the rifle out the slip screwed the jet z on and clipped the mag on, we are ready, we headed off slowly to the field opposite the farm house which had not been cut but had some cattle in it, as we came up put of the dip in the road i could see the cattle all in the far bottom corner thankfully, so i pulled up next to the fence switched the engine off and j pop the lamp out!! PING!! straight away i seen a orange flicker in the far corner of this field, he turned the lamp off and i got on the bonnet! i could seen him! just through the swazi as it was a clear ski and the moon was bright, but not enough for a full sight.

J flicked the lamp on the rest off the field to make sure no cattle were around, it was just charlie in the corner! i took aim j flicked the lamp and THWACK!!! down she went.

I paced it at 197 paces and think she fell on the spot (pic 3).....

She was a vixen so i thought she must have cubs, i got in the jeep and drove up the lane that skirts the field stop about 60yds from where i shot her and had a squeak, and who pops his head up but this little fellow and then walks onto the track(pic 2) and i could see him clear via the scope so let a round off, picked him up and moved on up through the woods to a field of rape and nothing so back down the lane to the farm where another field had been cut, which had a fresh dung heap in it flicked the lamp on the heap and one was sat on top of it!(pic 1) which was about 170yds away from the gate gave a little sqeak it came down and stopped dead!! by now it was about 00.30 and thought i better get home as work at 05:15.

Not a bad night, and even the farmer came out and said thanks as he can now get some more chicks....

i don't see why everyone has to snipe at each other. it's more than bad enough with the antis trying to get our hunting sports banned without people from different practices having a go as well. if you can't say something constructive then there is no point saying anything at all. yes, you might prefer to run the fox and chase it down with your dog but that doesnt give you the right to tell the shooting men what they can and can't do. doesn't help anyone.

and didnt the hunting ban make it illegal to kill foxes with a dog????
