Advice wanted .177 or .22

Recommended Posts

Have got a .177 Air arms s200 TM but dont think it is upto the job for full grown rabbit.

Have target shot for a bit now but dont think that my .177 is upto dropping full grown rabbit!

I understand that alot would be down to my shooting but not alot of room for error!

Any ideas? :hmm:

ok, if you have the dosh buy a .22 keep the s200 and try both...

i,ve had no problems with .177 in over 20 years, i did have a gripe with .22 on a number of ocations, but thats me and how i shoot.... .177 suits me and my needs to 60 yards on rabbits.

even with rimmies and center fires yuo need to hit the spot... with 12fp's it realy is about how accurate you aare, and how well you get on with your chosen wepon.........................can you hit a wall nut? the size of the rabbit brain... verses the size of pea, the heart...

might buy a bag of walnuts and try it out :hmm:

Have you always used .177?

i chose .177 for the longer range accuracy!

Its all about pellet placement , i would`nt be worrying about range , field craft is your best option , but it should do the job , i cant see why it wont .

s smaller than a walnut, plus you don't need to hit a rabbits heart with a chest shot, you can take the lungs into account too.

The amount of disinformation on here is a real let down at times, there's nothing wrong with having an opinion, I just wish people wouldn't present they're opinions as facts..

will give the wall nut a go see if i can hit it consistently. have you any pellet tips for me am using RWS pellets with a small dish in the end.

do you use full hollow point?

Domed pellets are the most accurate. In my opinion, the only practical use for hollow points are at extreme close ranges, or for despatching live caught rats in traps.

Why dont you get somebody with a .22 to go shooting with you and swap guns for the day , then see for your self . Got any permission ?

thats not a bad idea just got to find someone, got permission but no mates :D:D:D:D:D:D lol

friend of mine has a .22 spring but the fore sight is knackered and he doesnt have a scope :(:(

i might try and pick up a .22 PCP dont mind having 2 rifles always have the use for them.

my mate loves the shotgun but if i picked up a .22 then he could use one. we do share kit to spread the cost abit.

anyone got one going max £250?
