Kenny.B 1
The 450d is a very nice little camera, but be aware, the cannon eos range is constantly being updated. So your money spent on a brand new camera will depreciate fast by a superseeded model. If your looking for a good cheap didgi slr for snapping shots, i would buy a second hand 350d or a 400d. The 450d has a larger viewing screen, but most of the other tricks and toys are the same. It comes with a 18-55 lense i beleive, wich is ample for most shooting you will do. I.E. portrait, fast moving, landscape within reason, all round lense. Hope this helps a little.

My advice with camera's and lenses is exactly the same advice i give to folk looking for a rifle and scope. Buy the camera then put the best glass you can afford on it. I used a 400d at harewood gamefair at the weekend as my second camera with a 24-105L f4 lense on it, Someone came up to me and asked why i got better photo's than them when we had the same camera. It was the lense they had the one that came with the camera bundle. The 24-105l retails around £800-900 but it's well worht the money if you want good quality photo's taken with the 24-105L f4
Kenny.B 1
I totally agree with Mally, the better the lense, the better the clarity and detail of the shot. I wouldnt use anything but Carl Ziess on my Hasselblad. But as a all round good lense, the standard is fine. Not all people can afford a £900 lense, some may say why spend £1000's on mods, on a £500 car? If you can afford a £900 lense, You might want to be upgrading your camera aswell. Dawn B 212
The 450d is a really smart camera and Im sure she will be pleased with it. Re upgrading, yes they do, all companies release new models, but Canon dont discontinue their models anywhere near as quickly as Nikon and Canon resell better too. I cant agree on the standard kit lens, I have seen some fabulous shots with it. I have several lenses and my favourite at present is a Sigma 70-200 F/2.8, was around £550 I think, I also use a 1.4x teleconverter on it. Its not all about the lens, you have to have the camera set right too, get a good bit of glass and know your camera and you will be fine! 3 of Mally's shots were on a preset setting, "action/sports" this is an auto setting and will be on the 450d too. A couple using the 70-200mm and Canon 40d.
