Sterry 0
Some of you may have read my other post about air rifles and age and the law and shotguns, but, i thought id get your guys tips and veiws on lamping with a ,410. i have a 3 shot bolt action .410, unsilenced, i usually use express 3" magnums no.6 or should i take the 20 sbs??? so any tips would be well recieved Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
I just enjoy using the .410 rather than near the same power as a 12 bore with the 20. Try using some lighter cartridges for lamping, the 2.5" is a nice light load and will knock them over, keep it to 30 yards More with practice as ever. Quote Link to post
hiho 5
why not try your 20 sbs? Quote Link to post
Sterry 0
i just was thinking about noise really, but thinkin its not much difference. Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Fair bit of difference at range Just like you can always tell who's shooting a 20 when everyone else has a 12. Quote Link to post
Deker 3,491
I don't lamp with the shotgun. Moderated rifles ONLY for me and any guests after dark...my rules!!! Each to their own!! Quote Link to post
Fidgety 8
Time was when I could happily go out late at night with the shotty, and nobody would take any notice. Nowadays, it's a definite no-no due to all the city folk moved into the area. Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
It depends on how close you live to civilisation. I live in a village and often hear unmoderated rifles and shotguns going off, but then I know who it is Seen as most of the land that surrounds the village is shoot land. I do the same myself on occasion, if I lamp with a friend who has the rifle, i'll take the shotgun and vice versa. Never causes any problems here as its pretty normal, but on other farms and areas, friends call in their activities to the local bobbies to let them know. If its before 11pm then nothing can be done if its only occasionally and the local constabulary are notified. Quote Link to post
Fidgety 8
I'm in the pompous south SS, always a house within 1/2 a mile! Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Not good pal But then again, if you lived in a populated area and it was accepted then no one would bat an eyelid, shows what were up against when a Shotgun going off at night comes to ARV's being called out Quote Link to post

Obviously that would be the ideal, but as i dont have an FAC, and i cant transport my airrifle legally, this seems to be the only other way. And my situation differs massivly from your deker. Sterry 0
i think what i'll do is do a few earlish ones and inform the plod and have a chat to those who live in the old workers cottages. Quote Link to post
Fidgety 8
Everyone's set up is different. Good idea to have a chat with those living nearby, it will give you an idea as to how they feel - you never know, they might all be fine with it! Quote Link to post

SportingShooter 0
The coppers on night shift will love a few dead bunnies Perhaps the ARV boys might join you to improve their marksmanship, sometimes leaves a lot to be desired Quote Link to post
