Please note that the terrier, whippet and lurcher events at the IRISH GAME FAIR Shanes Castle are now being organised and run by the Bannside Sporting Dog & Gun Club assisted by the NILRC plus independent line judges. We thank the Glenbank Working Dog Club for their assistance over the past couple of years but felt that we wanted to involve a club that would put more of the proceeds back into the terrier, whippet and lurcher community and the sport. The prize structure and timings of the events will remain the same. I trust the new organisers will have your full support in taking o -

2 More Top Dog shows and Race days this Weekend on Sunday. 1/ The Sporting Whippet Club NI are holding their 3rd Pedigree Whippet Show and Race of the year this Sunday at Dunsilly, Co Antrim. Always a great Family day Out. 2/ Field of Dreams Schooling Track are holding their 2nd Dog Show/Raceday and Digging Competition of the year at the Field of Dream Schooling Track , Gulladuff, Maghera., Another great family day out. We are delighted to report that Ferret Racing will return to the Fair at Shanes Castle on Sunday 30th June at 11.00am in the Countrysports in Action Arena. This time it will be organised by DAZZAM & VERMINCATCHER. The Countrysports in Action arena is designed to allow members of the public to 'get up close and personal' with our sports people and performers so they can ask questions and have a bit of craic which is not always possible in the main arena. Started off from home earley last Sunday morning the 9th June. Met up with a few friends along the way,stopped off at Mc Donalds in Newry for breakfast and continued on our journey to the lady on our Sat Nav informed us we were coming the end of the motorway. As we approached our destination, deep in the roaming Dundalk countryside, there nestled in the bed of the beautiful Cooley Mountains was the venue for the 2nd annual Farney Harriers Dog show and Race day. Woke up last Saturday morning 8th June 13 to the sound of the dawn chorus reminding me the day for the North Down Lurcher & Terrier Club (Working Dog Show) Charity Event had finally arrived. It was time for us to get our feet out on the floor, dogs in trailer, and head for Movilla Road, Newtownards Co Down. They say the sun only shines on Gods people, well he certainly dished it out on Saturday in abundance for this show. A sad note to everyone to advise them that our dear friend, Philip Lawton, Co Director of the Birr Fair and Arena Director of both Northern & Southern Fairs passed away on Friday. Philip extended his wide sporting interests to terriers, lurchers and especially whippets over the last couple of years but unfortunately he won't now have the whippet he often talked about acquiring. Philip supported me in extending the prize fund for the terrier, whippet and lurcher events and last year I rather 'conned' him into getting involved in the Director's Challenge for Novice Lurchers. Louth . The venue will be at the same place as last year at Junction 18 just of the M1 motorway. There will be the usual classes for Terriers, Lurchers, Whippets, Hounds, Gundogs and Pets. Sporting Whippet Club N.I. Show / Race Day Last Sunday 2nd June 13 Had a brilliant day out last Sunday at the Sporting Whippet Club NI, 2nd Show of the year, held at Dunsilly, Co Antrim. There was not a cloud in the sky, as we set up the rings and prepared for the influx of Whippet men and women and their beautiful Whippets. This was to be the start of a great days showing and Racing. There were some lovely cups and trophys to be won, and were well displayed for all to see.
