  1. Ah well these things happen, actually it does not really bother me as I am not into football but I am disappointed for all the folks that love the game and would have been going to the matches as it would be a once in a life time thing for them. Flippin Russia is a long way to travel
  2. How'd you work that one out, they haven't announced the results yet? I've got inside information mate, your 4th I beg your pardon? Wales were never in the running for it, I don't think.. :laugh How's the weather up there in Ireland.....? LOL sorry pal. Plenty of snow here in Scotland mate You are right
  3. I'll never tire of your witty sheep jokes, the same ones are as funny now as they were three years ago.... It does not matter if you are English, Welsh, Scottish, Irish as long as we can all laugh the place will be a better place
  4. Are all the sheep high up in the hills out of reach so you are are bored
  5. Thanks for that Wag I just thought it would be as bad as here, we will have to have a "Wag cam" put up on your house facing the marsh so that we can see what the weather is like for those of us who are more than 30 seconds away:thumbs: One of the reasons I came across last Thursday morning was that the weathermen said it was going to be rough, windy and snow storms, was it flip, freezing cold, still and as clear as day. Never mind I still enjoyed it better than sat with my leg in a pot Hurry up and get better
  6. Can they still see the road, what I mean is do you not have snow? Just measured the depth of the snow today in our back garden and it was 19 inch deep and its still coming down. I would not fancy driving down your way with the dyke's and such if the snow is deep. How unsympathetic some people can be, pipping when going past a sick mans house
  7. Thanks Joe I enjoyed that write up, same as I say I love to hear other folks experiences. Have you any recent wildfowling experiences to share Tony? Is there anyone out there who would admit that they tried wildfowling and thought "This is not for me" because to be honest my first half hour in the dark on the marsh with the mud pulling my boots off I thought "flip this I'm off home" cmon lets have a story or two.
  8. I love to hear everyones opinions and experiences so dont apologise. I know if I was closer I would be on the marsh more often and I should have spent time through the summer checking the layout of the marsh out. Take care mate and I hope your foot heals soon.
  9. Well this is my first season on the Wash and I have only been out three times but have enjoyed getting out. All three times it has been clear skies and cold, the first time I saw loads of pink feet but at 32,000 feet and a couple of mallard. The second time clear skies again but saw no geese and a pair of mallard came over me when I was not prepared and later another pair came towards me but it would have been shooting towards the sea wall and there were walkers there so I did not risk it. I went across last Thursday morning as they said it was going to be rough weather but it was nothing of
  10. The extracts below are some that I have taken from a book that I am reading and if anyone would like to make comment on the extracts I would be interested to hear what is said. "Moon Light and its effect on Duck It is unnecessary to deal in full with the moon and its effect on the tides, for practical purposes it will be sufficient to say that high tides coincide with the appearance of a new moon and occur again when the moon is full. Shooting duck under a moon is a sport that needs more patience than that advocated by Izaak Walton, primarily because the duck, obviously fearing the
  11. Bath Night A couple take in an 18-year-old girl as a lodger. She asked if she could have a bath but the woman of the house told her they didn't have a bath but if she wanted to she could use a tin bath in front of the fire....... "Monday's the best night, when my husband goes out to darts," she said. The girl agreed to have a bath the following Monday.... After her husband had gone to the pub for his darts match, the woman filled the bath and watched the girl get undressed. She was surprised to see that the lass didn't have any pubic hair. She mentioned this to her husba

I wished I had known that you were going to his place I would have warned you as the last time he camped in my back garden him and his mate ate all the fish out of my fish pond and the final straw was when they killed and skinned the next doors cat and were about to put it on the barbecue. Bloody foreigners.

  14. I have never been out of work and when I worked at the pit and we were on strike the state gave me £26 per week for my family but when I went back to work they took it all back out of my wages. Why is it some folk have worked all of their life and some have never worked = bone idle edited to say when we went on strike
  15. very strange , how close where you to the pond could have been spooked by something, have a look around the pond to see if there are any bags that are flapping about .... Ducks are very easily spooked I have 8 in a shed and the other day a white bag dropped off the shelf in the shed on to the floor and they would not go back in at dusk and they are normally waiting in the shed for food.
  16. Do you know I have been hanging my nose over going wildfowling for about 2 to 3 years and just wished that I had done it sooner, 10 years ago would have been about right. With the article in the BASC magazine I have just read there is no excuse not to try it especially if you get a guide as well. My advice is if you have never tried it GIVE IT A GO
  17. A Yorkshire man takes his cat to the vet. Yorkshireman: "Ayup, lad, I need to talk to thee about me cat." Vet: "Is it a tom?" Yorkshireman: "Nay, I've browt it with us." ................................................................................... A Yorkshireman's dog dies and as it was a favourite pet he decides to have a gold statue made by a jeweller to remember the dog by. Yorkshireman: "Can tha mek us a gold statue of yon dog?" Jeweller: "Do you want it 18 carat?" Yorkshireman: "No I want it chewin' a bone yer daft bug ger!" ................

  19. Monday 25th October 2010, tide 07.56, height 7.3m and dawn at 07.44 It started off with a lay in and got up at 4 am for a two hour drive to the Wash, I arrived at about 6.20am and my mentor had just arrived so we both got togged up quickly as it was freezing cold. We walked onto the sea wall and started walking towards where we had worked out where we were going as on our previous visit we had seen some ducks in this place. I went down the sea wall at the end of the blackthorn/hawthorn hedge (so Wag knows where I went) jumped over the small creek and went the other side of the post and barbe
  20. Off to the woods and cut your own edited to say good luck and I hope you enjoy it, and let us know how you get on
  21. Well done Wag, cant you take up domino's or something and leave some ducks for us Seriously carry on with the wildfowling and the good posts as I thoroughly enjoy them.
  22. the jounrney down to ..... ... I have to admit I tried to write the post with a bit of humour as I knew you the "duck meister" would read it, thanks for the offers you have been very kind to me and I am enjoying being in the club but I will stick to the old man for now until I have got my "webbed feet". I will tell you where I was, half way to the bailey bridge I think thats what you call it. One of the reasons for my post was to explain from a beginner to wildfowling the excitement of that morning and the lead up to it and even though I have been shooting for over 30 years
  23. well its a great read but i nearly washed the screen on the pc with tea when i read some of it .. i'm pleased you made it down and had a good flight but 50 yards out is not far enough , you need a proper fowler to show you the way lol ... send me a text or call me you got my number and we can sort a trip out onto a proper marsh , i will promise to go gentle with you honest , plenty of pinks about at the mo ... and ducks there is about 700 to a thousand on a field 500 yards up the road from my house and there is more coming down from up north every day now , also with this moon on
  24. Sean, I cant wait to get back to be honest I thoroughly enjoyed it the more I think about it. The big bug bear is the traveling time involved. I was back at work yesterday at 12 noon. I feel honoured that someone is taking the time to mentor me as it can be a frightening place to be in the dark and the mud monster is pulling at your boots
