trenchfoot- I hope you don't prod many men on the internet... . pesky- I would say she will improve or I wouldn't have brought the bitch with a view of bringing her on I took a risk it might work out it might not. I have put some certain catches her way and some have been laughable honestly at one point I was in stiches shes a fruitcake at times.all I can do is put the work her way and hopefully she will step up her game. maybe I am painting out a bad picture of her that's not my intension I am sure she would suit some people down to the ground. she retrives live to hand. works cover well. wor

Morton I agree with that comment some people blow smoke up the dogs arse for whatever reason. I can honestly say I don't rose tint anything its in my kennel and its my choice what I do with my dogs. but I cannot get into my head why people lie about there dogs. if I was lieing about my dog I wouldn't be calling it average lol. but I have seen some so called "wonder dogs" fail to leave an impression after the stories I have heard.

trenchfoot- jumping the gun abit are you not??. the dog is still young hence why I had her!! only owned her for 3 months?? running golf courses with her carrying an injury?? before you try and make me out to be a idiot let me just explain. the dog in question was a very close friends who was getting rid because he didn't meet her standards she showed promise and I took a gamble and brought the dog. I have been out with her more times than I care to remember I have also took the bitch out on my own if he couldn't get out due to work. I have seen the bitch work most weeks since she started apar

KPS- this bitch aint slow to mature she is fine. she was physically fit at the time. she has promise so I will stick with her I aint the type to give up without giving it everything. I wasn't really on about my dog just using it as an example. but I am hopefull I will be able to bring her on.

desertbred a pipe dream is not a failure. a good dog is not out of reach of someone who knows a little bit about the game and the individual dog. its not something impossible your asking for. its in reach of most people dog willing...

I have always said certain people can get the best out of dogs. but sometimes you cant put in what god left out. kps she has a lot of whippet in her make up along with abit of everything...

no I would never full retire a dog and make it sit in the kennel all day. I would limit its work to suit its age and condition knowing that when he was in his prime he was a good dog and put game away for me and earned his keep.

I can personally put up with an average lurcher if its showing some signs of improvement or promise. I will use my dog for an example shes 100% committed but even if shes giving 100% all the time and not making the grade is it fair to keep her around knowing I will never really be happy with how the dogs preforming? when you have a dog on the slip and your quarry in the beam do you really want the doubt in the back of your head?? time will be the test of this over the coming season... can we not turn this into a slagging match. if your happy keeping something that's average then hat

yes mate I am booked in to see him tomorrow and aint in a massive rush to get the dog out it takes as long as it takes. the dog is more than capable of putting away the bunnies on here and did well on the night. its always a risk on golf courses due to the nature of obsticles. but you cant wrap them in cotton wool ay. she will be kept of the golf courses until shes 100% healed fit and ready I may give them a complete miss this season to be on the safe side. those golf course bunnies do tend to shift a little...

I have to disagree Tyla. I cannot tailor what I want from my hunting to suit the dog. I don't expect the mut to be perfect shes young and inexperienced but I expect her to uphold some sort of consistency in her work. not just her but in all my dogs. I aint after a world beater and its a bloody good job lol. don't get me wrong Paulus its fun getting there but also makes my blood boil when you can see a dog has more to offer...

how many people out there are happy to put up with an average lurcher? by this I mean a dog that does not quite hit your standards in expectation. a dog that puts a bit of game away but is just lacking something. I have never been one for having loads of lurchers 2 at the most! I have a pup and a 2 year old bitch. the bitch is what I would describe as average at best at the moment but she shows more promise than other dogs I have owned and if I am honest it makes my blood boil. she has what is needed to make a very good dog yet I find myself laughing out loud on the lamp at her piss poor perfo

as above!. I have a bitch I brought about 3 months back now I cant be sure how much work she was given with previous owner. I was given a trail and I was fairly happy with the bitch. I carry out pest control on a golf course year round and took her for a few runs I didn't over run her she had no knocks at all but she has been limping since (front right paw). there was no signs of swelling or anything out of the ordinary (maybe ligament damage??). I gave the bitch a few weeks rest took her out for a walk and she started to limp again. this bitch has now been lame for almost 3 months. she is fin
