forest of dean you should no all about the feral pigs lol. its right if there wasn't a ban I wouldn't own a rabbit only dog because its getting harder and harder to have a good night on them. deer all over the place feral pigs taking over on about re introducing wolves into Scotland to control the deer yet we can only hunt rats and rabbits

now I aint saying everyone will see it this way and obviously there are parts of the uk alive with rabbits but there seems to be a massive decline around me (midlands). to cut a long story short I don't drive I have moved in with the missis and got speaking to a fella who does a lot of lurcher work all over the uk and he has been sound enough to let me come along whenever want and its really opened my eyes to how much game there is in certain parts of the uk. we were south bound last week seen over 50 deer and god knows how many feral pigs. and maybe at tops 10 rabbits. I have a little lurcher

if I took it out on a trial Morton I prob would of still took the dog in all honestly. I have a pup now its far from ready. I will be out there doing a bit I cant sit about waiting for the end of next season to come along to give the pup a few runs. I will no doubt have a good season with this dog she will put big and small quarry in the bag just a shame she makes that bloody annoying dull whinge lol

she is deffo one for bigger game pulling of smaller stuff to run bigger stuff. she aint a nervous dog at all and she does her job. it must just be excitement she don't do it on rabbits. she don't do it on every run either its just not something I have ever had to put up with. those fallow can shift abit....

bonding time is irrelivent her recall is spot on I have no issues with that. fireman it wasn't a big rabbit mate she was retrieving a fallow that had been shot and injured. the dog is fully fit or I wouldn't have run her.and no neil I didn't expect the dog to amount to much for 150 but when its a decent dog and has a whine its not the best of situations. she is not lacking in any confidence at all as I said there is no whinge on rabbits just on the bigger stuff. mik feel free to drop your comments in on dogs and fallow I am sure you have a mass of knowledge on the subject.

I seen a add on facebook a little over a week ago a lurcher being sold as a single handed dog. the dog I have at the miniute is lame and frequently injured. so I went to have a look at this dog and ended up buying it on face value alone. I was a bit held back at first selling a single handed dog this close to the start of the season but for 150 I thought I would take the chance and headed home with her. I was quite eager to get her out for a few runs on the lamp and with me being a glass half empty type person I didn't expect much. I took her out local for a few runs and in all fairness she do

I have a milbro gamekeeper catapult number 007. Its a tad to heavy for my liking I like something I can put in my pocket and forget about when out with the dogs. stabba i agree there 100% its a horrible feeling when you have your quarry in the beam and a dog on the slip and a doubt in your mind. my dog will have its chances this season its up to her if she takes them or not. but when you begin to resent a dog it takes the fun out the sport for me it becomes more of a chore...

rakeaboot- lol! i honestly couldn't care what other people think about my dogs mate. i am just one for just pushing for that extra bit more... why should i have to settle with a dog i aint happy with i enjoy a challenge and that's probably why i ended up with the bitch i suppose time will tell and i will do doubt end up having a rant on here when it all goes pete tounge or maybe it will work out...

blackmaggie- its not that I think I am better than anyone else I know the standard of dog I am capable of producing and if this dog or any other dog for that matter wont make the standard It wont be because of the lack of trying on my behalf. there is only so much you can do with a dog before the balls in his court.
