  1. Have no experience with terriers/digging at all but like to watch the hunt now and again and I'm wondering which breed of terrier do they use to bolt a fox? And how are they trained not to hold the fox?? Hope someone can give me some more knowledge on the subject
  2. They seem to be few and far between to buy though! Can't seem to find a good supplier who has a set delivery rather than "as and when"

  4. Any body use lure machines for there dogs? Do you think the give any advantage on training dogs or just another thing to have? Also where is the best place to pick them up? It easiest way to make one
  5. Hi all! Have a saluki/collie/grey/bull his recall training was going really well! So well in fact I started his retrieve training! He is around six months and he completely taken a turn for the worst ! It's a case of Ill only listen when I want, I'm training him on the whistle and haven't changed anything I do when calling him! Could this be through my own fault or just the dog pushing boundaries? Any of you saluki pros out there might be able to comment!

  8. Nothing, another chicken dead half way across the orchard! Problem is there's a lot a flowers and vegetables being grown on the estate, and the chickens are fairly close to them, so you don't stand a chance of lamping it because it's got cover till it's fairly close
  9. He isn't showing any signs of an injury however maybe he has a little niggly one? He's caught yes! And up until now he's had a really high prey drive and has been really keen? That's why it's so strange for him to switch off
  10. Going to have to try everything! Thing is it's only a recent thing for him to not catch up until the past few nights he's been ok, chasing confidently
  11. That is a good idea! Problem is the dog is reluctant to chase! He will shoot on and then stop! Almost as if he hasn't seen it! Could this be the case? Simply not seeing them, on the same note , they are almost un missable

  13. a friend owns a saluki x grey x whippet and has asked me to post about gaining a dogs confidence, any tips that people have for gaining a dogs drive! perfect squat rabbits really are few and far between and his dog seems to be loosing confidence?? any advice welcome! cheers
  14. ah ok great! i just wasnt sure how the dog would run under a filtered lamp, of course an unfiltered light is better for the dog but sometimes you have to improvise
  15. Reason I'm asking these questions is I'm thinking of getting a hunt master 800 obviously, so wasn't sure how they saw, but I'm wondering if it will be to tight of a beam
  16. Ah that sounds quite a good idea! Do you run the dog under the amber lamp? Or do you take the filer off for the run?
  17. Nod you would of thought there was an obvious way onto the estate however there really isn't... There is only one suspect run but I'm not sure it's used! Socks that sounds brilliant ill give it a try! Thanks mate
  18. Ah! Would of been good! I can't seem to catch it! I've tried it all over the place next to chicken pen, along fence lines and fairly open!
  19. hi all! got a problem with foxes! killed a lot of hens and are eating plenty of our wild ducks and birds! they are lamp shy and there is no sign of there retreat! there also is no obvious way that they are coming in or out or snares could of been used, we have a fox trap! however i am unsure on using it, any tips/advice on camo/bait and positioning would be appreciated!
  20. how do dogs see in the red spectrum of light? a lot of lamp shy rabbits and want to be able to spot them and then switch lamps for the chase?
  21. for those that already have the night master 800, whats it like for changing the led? isit pretty straight forward? and easy enough to do in the field? thanks
