  1. Thanks for that P K. Which brings up another question. You say any run under a hill is not a main run. So how do you identify which is a main run.Do they not have to "hill up" spoil from all their excavations?
  2. Its often said never to place a trap under a hill, but I've never actually read the reason why. If the hill is on a main run I cant see what difference it makes, but I'm sure someone will enlighten me. Cheers.
  3. After some thought I decided not to try the mouse traps, mainly in case they weren't strong enough for a quick humane kill. I wasn't worried about fouling the mechanism as I dont usually cover my tunnel traps with soil. As I mentioned, I always cover the hole with a deep lid for protection from stock etc.
  4. In answer to the question Why?, just plain curiosity. I'm not trying to advocate the use of mouse type traps, just discussing if anyone had ever tried one for moles. If you don't ask the questions, you will never learn. Thanks for the comments guys.
  5. Well I think I'll give it a go just for curiosity sake.I'll make sure the trigger plate is set lower than the run so the mole doesnt just try to shove it out the way, and I,ll set one for each direction. I'll post how I get on.
  6. When I set a tunnel trap I cover it with a lid to stop sheep etc putting their feet into it. I've made some lids up to 2 1/2" deep for shallow runs so as not to foul the arms, and painted them red for ease of finding. I also fix them down with wire pegs so they dont get kicked off.
  7. Hi, I was wondering if anyone had ever tried using a little nipper mouse trap to catch moles. If the base (trigger plate) was set flush with the bottom of the tunnel surely it would trigger it just the same, or am I missing something obvious! If it worked 2 could be set just like a dufus trap.

We are now three weeks on. Does this sound like the actions of a genuine member or a scammer, you decide. Moderators have been notified.

  14. Hi, Rangefinder wanted for fac air rifle ranges, so don't need top of the range model, (or price). Also looking for a combro chronograph. Thanks Ian.
  15. Hi, Now shooting FAC, so sadly saying goodbye to my pride and joy, which is in beautiful unmarked condition. It has a lovely, figured grain, skeleton walnut stock, and the metalwork is also in excellent condition. For anyone who does'nt know the model, it's one of the lightest rifles you can own, well built and extremely accurate, Perfect for carrying about for hours in the field. It will come with a 3L bottle filling kit (2 yrs test), 2 mags, Lightweight (Matt) silencer, and a Hawke Night-eye 3-10x44 scope. I'm asking only £360 for this kit, so not looking for offers, as I've priced sensi
  16. Hi mate, a little bit late seeing this topic, but I've also been trying to decide on which FAC gun to get recently. I was going to go for an AA 410 / 5 10, or fx cyclone, both excellent rifles, but after a lot of reading and research I found out about the Webley fx2000, (also badged as the RWS Excalibre, or Logun Axsor). These are made in Sweden by FX , a top rated maker, and were designed as FAC rated, so have the power turned down for the UK. They are tuned back up very simply by an external adjuster, which will take it to around 25 ft/lb, without any other tinkering, but can be got up hig
  17. Hi Mark, I used to have the FN19 .22 myself, excellent gun for accuracy and ease of servicing. Sorry cant help with your query, but if you aren't already a user of the Falcon owners forum, have a look. The guys on there know everything there is to know, "Requoil" one of the mods is particularly helpful. Hope this helps, best of luck Ian.
  18. Hi I'm after a .22 FAC rifle, prefer Air arms s 4 / 510, or FX cyclone, but will consider any reasonably light gun. Thanks Ian.
  19. Thats my problem, weight, due to injury I need a light rifle. A bipod helps but I do a lot of shooting from a hide where one cant be used.
  20. Well my fac ticket came through the letterbox today, so I can start looking in earnest for the new gun. The more I look at the Stealth/Storm the more I'm liking them. The weight doesnt seem to be much more than my FN12 Lighthunter, which I will be sad to let go, It's a fantastic little rifle you can carry around for hours and not notice the weight. It's a pity the stealth is only single shot, but hopefully thats all it should need at say 30 ft/lb to do the biz.
  21. As I said earlier, rimfire is not on due to footpaths and bridleways well used on the perm. I'm getting great results with my Falcon Lighthunter fn12 at up to 30m, but theres lots of areas where I cant get that close so I want 50+ yds with a flatter trajectory and good stopping power if not bang on the kill zone. Ian.
  22. Its a good idea to buddy up with another permission holder(s) and see some fresh scenery. If you have a limited shooting area it could get a bit boring plodding round the same fields every week. Ian.
  23. Thanks mike the Storm has an 18'' barrel I believe, which should increase the already good shot count, and possibly accuracy. What sort of ranges is he getting results at, ( if he is shooting rabbits etc.) I was considering getting a sub 12 and having it upgraded if there was nothing in fac for sale, did your mate have his modded for fac. The AA 4-10 was another contender, especially with variable power adj, but I do like the quirkiness plus the simplicity of the Gunpower range. Rimfire definately out as I have several footpaths/ bridleways that get regular use being near town Ian
