On the firmer ground yes you will see a faster course hare and dog will hit faster speeds , on the wetter ground if you took both same hare and dog you will see a totally different course and yes it will be tough going for both but the hare will have advantage due to dog being more heavier to get across ,some dogs run well on the firmer ground but don't do well on the wetter land and vice versa. good dog will handle whats ever put in front on any land .
A lad I know runs a saluki whippet grey bitch she does realy well on the firmer ground she a fast attacking dog but on the wet land or plough realy struggles.
Every course is different as you don't know what you getting until you slip thats what makes it interesting iv seen hares come up from plough and straight line dogs and other fold in 2 bends on the firmer land. Atb merry xmas

I think the saluki strain in this country has developed alot in the past years theres has been alot of fresh blood brought over from over seas , pures are still owned and worked in this Country imo nero the pure has produced some cracking dogs out of Pure and to saluki lurcher , unfortunately most men are stuck in they old ways and still would not chance in working a pure (why change when the saluki lurcher are doing the job ) . Iv seen and heard of a few pure that have been running well and producing well, iv seen alot of lads now that are crossing they dogs or bitchs back to a pures and producing some class animals , these dogs and heavy saturated saluki blooded animals but are fast as the lurcher type game stamina. I crossed my pure saluki bitch out of nero to a coursing bred dog and the litter has produced some class animals all gone to working homes one won a 16 dog stake last year at a young age . My bitch is for me is thhe best dog i have ever owned . Dont know about others but when it comes to coursing cannot beat a saluki hybrid lurcher or saluki in the blood.
