  1. a good quality pellet is the ftt's. thats one of the first types i tried in all my barrels. i could only get my mitts on 4.51's. i found my hw100 shoots them pretty well, whereas they sempt to be a bit too loose in my hw97kt. sometimes when i thumbed one into my gun, it'd come back out on the end of my thumb. i ended up going to 4.52's which all of my guns seem to like. as i couldnt get ftt's in 4.52 i ended up trying the jsb variety. jsb exacts or air arms field in 4.52 seem to shoot well in all of my guns. that includes my 97. i tried expresses, with them being half a grain lighter they
  2. the tx200hc is a bit snappier than the tx200 due to the shorter barrel. most people that shoot tx's for competitions and what not mainly use the full sized rifle over the carbine because of this. they can be made to shoot a lot nicer with a proper strip down and relube with quality lube. the carbine tends to be a bit hold sensitve though. a chap i know has a tx200hc thats been fettled and is possibly one of the nicest springers ive ever shot. i'm a hw fan and like my 97's, but his tx is stunning. i'm suprised your gun isn't already super smooth with it being a 22 as they tend to be a l
  3. sorry si. that last post was an answer to your question. this is the first recoiling champs that anston has held. you must really like a challenge. hft can be tough enough with a springer, but to do it in the 22 class as well.. i first started hft with a 22 hw100. i got my scores to around 52 and couldn't improve anymore than that so swapped actions to a 177 hw100 to improve my scores. once i'd got my head around the flatter tragectory my scores improved no end. i also have a mpr and a s200. both great rifles. the mpr is great and the s200 is a seriously underated gun in my opinion. easil
  4. i'm doing hft with my hw97kt. 177. there will be a 22 class. ive watched a few of you vids and you seem to know your stuff. with your accent, you sound like you're local to me. plus on one of your vids i'm sure ive seen you shooting with one of our new probationers, but could be mistaken. had a bad shoot today at ponty. ended up having to retire. i still came 2nd overall in the final standings, so was reasonably happy. breech seal needs changing. i lost 0.8fpe and was dropping 2" low at 40 yards. gunna have to call in and see wilf for a new one tomorrow. i started off mainly hunting, b
  5. this question seems to get asked nearly as much as the 177 over 22 debate. there's no denying that out the box the tx and the pro sport are excellent. they can both be made better with a proper tune up. i find both to be very hold sensitive. especially the tx carbine and the pro sport. the pro sport is easily the sexiest looking springer available today bar none. the hw97 is rougher round the edges out of the box but still does everything its supposed to do. once tuned though the 97 is devastatingly accurate and consistent. the thumbhole stock on my kt isn't the best lookig of stocks,
  6. i'm not sure about in 22, but a chap at our club has a competition ultra in 177 and uses jsb expresses 7.9grain. it also shoots very well with jsb exacts and air arms fields. both are 8.4 grains. i think they're all 4.52mm. ive also had quite a bit of interest in these guns, and thought i'd wait until i saw one in the flesh and have a shoot with one. i finally got my mitts on my mates last sunday. i was quite impressed with the accuracy and the overall feel of the gun. quite heavy but thats how i like them. it was very smooth to cock and fired very nicely. it had a slight twang to it, but
  7. ive just got back from a winter league shoot at pontefract. had to come off early. my springer was shooting an inch low at 30 yards. at first i thiught it was my bad shooting, until i had a go at a 40 yard shot and it dropped about 2 inches low. i'm not the best shot in the world by no means, but after missing 9 shots on the bounce i realised it wasn't me and was the gun. i suspect the breech seal needs replacing. i managed to spin it round as hw breech seals are reversable. it still had to put quite a few clicks on to bring my zero back. i'll be straight into my local gun shop tomorrow fo
  8. dave hall is a personal friend of mine. when it comes to hw's, he is the man. he did my hw97kt about 14 months ago. its in 177 and is awesome to shoot. i'm new to this forum, but thought i'd check it out as i'm into hunting and also hft/sft. basically, i'm into anything thats to do with airguns. i mainly use it for hft. i can rest the stock on the peg, against the peg, even put the butt on the floor. it hardly changes the poi at all. i took my gun to him personally and sat there and watched him do his thing. he makes the top hat and guide specially to fit each individual gun he does. m
  9. a good pellet to start off with is anything from the jsb variety. air arms fields, jsb reds, jsb blues (which i use in my hw97kt), falcons, fx. be warned though. falcons are very light and fly very close to the limit. it'd be worth trying them over a chrono. my 97 does 10.9 with jsb's, but 11.5 with falcons. a big difference, so its definatley worth shooting a string over the chrono. i find the falcons are great out to 35 yards, but can be a bit irratic in the wind. its because they're so light. most guns shoot well with jsb made pellets so they're always a good place to start. acc
  10. hello people. my names john, i'm from mansfield and have been shooting for aroud 4 years. i'm into hunting and also hft/sft and am a member of anston ftc which is in renishaw near sheffield. i try to get out shooting at least a couple of times a week. i only shoot airguns. i have a hw100 in 177 which is my main hunting rig. my main quarry are rabbits and pigeons. i have my own permission which ive had for around 3 years now. i'd say its between 8 and 10 acres and is mainly rabbits and pigeons. there are the odd squirrels, but not enough that i see it as a problem so tend to leave them alon
