  5. As you say Phil "it is what it is" Out this morning,Sleet and bloody cold,Bagged 3 woodies and slipped into the pond,Filling my wellys with freezing water (Not good). Trudged off home a bit damp but chuffed.
  6. Cheers for the encouragement...The land owner has bird scarer's all over the place and has given me permission to shoot to pursue my hobby rather than rid him of pests-as discussed with him at the time of gaining the permission . Bagged 3 woodies and a crow this morning then spent a few hours just sitting and enjoying the peace of the land. Built a bit of a hide and picked up two bags full of crap i found lying around. All in a good 6 hours of happiness for me.I feel that both myself and the farmer feel good about ourselves. Work hard at your shooting grounds.Me i just enjoy myself a

  8. http://www.airgunspares.com/store/content/87/BSA/ Will this help?
  9. Not really a lot of tips to pass on, i reckon these things depend on luck and the need of the land owner. I got lucky! I am not looking for more land now,Though 3 more letters answered with " we have someone" or just "No thanks" Get some insurance- A bit of cost i know but peace of mind for the farmer & it shows you as being responsible. Keep on trying. Golf courses-stables-sports grounds-fisheries. Good luck with it. Barnze
  10. I got mine after a letter drop. Got a reply within the week, Met with the farmer and job done. The previous permission holder was a bit of an idiot--Drinking-fires etc- I reckon my age was a plus (55). Got mine with a few provisos but got it. All i can say is stick at it, I was lucky after only 10 door knocks & 10 letters,The BASC membership & insurance was a good talking point on meeting up with the farmer & seemed to impress him. Good luck Barnze

What a piece of work Simon. You seem to have gathered a good group of constructive replies here.As an old man returning to air gunning after 40 odd years and the old Diana i must say the PCP are a bit bling for me and i got back in the game with a bargain BSA Meteor from a friend. love it and can now after only a few weeks smash a polo (The sweet not the car) at 25yds every shot. now looking at getting on to a bit of land to extend my range 7 maybe a woodie or two for the pot. Once again thanks for your piece it was inspirational. All the best B4rnze

Currently door knocking in my local area for my own permission but would be well chuffed to tag along with someone willing to brush up my skills. All the best Barnze.
