  1. For one thing houses are generally nice and warm, I think if you keep a dog in a house it'll get used to being warm and comfortable and then it won't like going out out in the wind and rain as much as a dog that's kept in a shed. I also just don't like the idea of any dog being inside.
  2. Hi lads, what do you think of keeping working dogs inside the house as pets? The reason I ask is I was out lamping with a man who does and his dogs were shit. A buddy of mine does a lot of rough shooting and he said that any pet dog he'd seen had been shit too. Any working dog I've had has been kept in a shed all day and only taken out to exercise and work them and sometimes let them follow me around the farm and if I do say so myself they were all fairly good. What are your thoughts on this? L_L
  3. What's it like lamping in the snow?
  4. Hi lads, does anyone of any pictures of the above cross? A farmer living near me said he had a few of them and he said that they were the best on fox he ever saw, good on deer day and night and ok at daytime hares. If anyone has or had one would you agree with what he said? L_L
  5. Thanks woz I had a look on that candle forum lots of info there. My friend and I will have a good read through it before we go near any battery. I'll be saving myself €, have all the materials for free. I'm also off college at the moment so I don't have a lot to do. If you want I'll still take the £20, just ask and I'll pm you my address.
  6. Thanks for the helpful reply unlike all of the others. My friend is bound to have lots of PCB boards. Would 10.8 V batteries do, most of the HP laptops take these? The part above in italics, do you mean that 28 batteries will give 14 Ahr? I'm not arguing with you now or anything as you clearly know more about electronics than I but would a 16 V charger not overcharge a 14.4 battery and make shit of them? I'm going to have to get my leaving cert physics book out again to brush up. Best of luck
  7. Who said it's over, welcome to the forum
  8. Hi lads, I was wondering if anyone on here has ever made up their own lamping battery from old lithium batteries. I can get a lot of old laptop batteries from a buddy for free and I was thinking that I could join a few of them together so it would last a nights lamping. Would I be right in thinking if one battery failed that no current would flow? Can anyone think of any other problems? L_L EDIT: would it matter if there was a difference of let's say 1 V between the highest and lowest voltage battery?
  9. My brother and I were up in this eccentric old farmers place one night. We could hear something the banging of rock against rock so we went up for a look. It was the farmer out picking stones by moonlight! He said the contractor was booked for the next day so he had to get the stones picked. I told him get up in the tractor and we picked the field clean for him. He was delighed and now he lets us lamp off his quad whenever we want it.
  10. Thanks for that mate, I'll have a good look at it tomorrow.
  11. Hi lads, I used to play a lot of golf when I was younger and as one would expect when the ball was hit straight into the wind it went higher but not as far and going downwind it went lower and further. I had thought that a bullets trajectory would be similarly affected but when I said it to my buddy he said I couldn't be more wrong. Could any of you shed a bit more light on this if you wouldn't mind? L_L
  12. Hi guys, I'm from Ireland and into lamping with dogs and guns. I've enjoyed reading some of the topics on here so I said I may as well join myself. L_L
