  1. Is there any lads running dogs on the easy coast of Scotland ? I've been up here 4 month and I've not met or heard of anyone running dogs here, there's plenty shooting and trapping going on, in asked about even the lad in the hunting shop looked at me like I was stupid and said they hunt rabbits with shotguns.......very sporting of them ha
  2. Aye they didn't miss when they handed me the hair colour, murphys turning out to be a cracker
  3. I managed to take a few pictures of murphy on our usual walk down the beach, he's 8 months 22" tts whippet x full of beans, not from any big name lines but looks like he should be well up to the job of bunny bashing.
  4. Aye mate there's plenty young pups there but there to young to be running this season.
  5. My mates after a coursing bred dog to bring on for this season, he's based on the east coast of Scotland and will travel within reason, if anyone no's of a decent bred dog going for sensible money can you let me no and I'll pass on the details.
  6. He seems dead set on an older pup or young dog mate, you don't see many dogs or litters advertised around Aberdeen way so that's not making things any easier.
  7. Aye good one.........you no what I meant, before lads started using salukis for coursing in the uk
  8. bridlington always has and has loads of wind were off 2morraAye blame the auto correct for my poor spelling
  9. how would they know if the saluki hadnt arrived yet I meant compared to the deerhound
  10. Were the collie/Bridlington not lacking a bit wind ?
  11. I'm sure this has been asked before but what was the x of choice before the saluki ? Iv seen a couple deerhound x that iv been told do there job but were collies x etc used ?
  12. Can't say fairer then that mate like I said ill pass on the message , looks a nice pup though out of working stock,.
  13. Its not just the money, no one wants to be stuck with a shite dog you cant do anything with and it wouldn't be right selling it on unless it was a pet home.
  14. It's a risk with no trial, I don't think he's expecting a 8/8 dog but he doesn't want to end up with a donkey either..
  15. My mates after a day time dog to run with mine, he's dead set on a dog around 12 months, is this more trouble then it's worth this time of year not being able to see the dog run and risking buying a spoilt one ? Iv seen dogs advertised on other websites supposedly from big name coursing lines with hefty prices all seems a bit dodgy ?
  16. Can any tell me if there's public transport from Berwick train station to the show ?
  17. As above I'm looking for a copy of purdys progress and lurcher field craft.
  18. You'd be better off getting a bond with him round the garden and getting him jabbed imo. When I asked if he'd had his jabs before I took the dog the lad said he had but was abit hesitant so ill be taking a trip to the vet to see if he can be given them again
  19. Edited to say, get him on a few small meals a day, and watch how fast he grows by the time he's 9 months He was crying out for some good bait when I got him back he ate about half a kilo of mince mixed with his dry food no problem, ill be taking a trip to durham animal feeds tomorrow
  20. Yea I was thinking about 4-5 months as he has his front adult teeth in but still quite a few puppy molers, ill be taking him for a mooch tomorrow and see if he's interested in owt
  21. I offerd to give a pup a home today as the owner couldn't keep him any more for what ever reason, anyway the only real info I was told was that he was a seven month old saluki x the thing is he looks really young, by that I mean he's small with little muscle and sometimes looks abit awkward on his feet and he still has quite a few puppie teeth. Ill be keeping him regardless but I was wondering what your thoughts were on him and do you think he has much growing left ?
  22. You need to get rid of the scent, that's why dogs go back to the same plac, you can buy a proper spray for the job from pet stores don't use house hold cleaners because there bad for your dog and some contain ammonia which will attract a dog to go there
  23. Dogs don't use carbs like humans, dogs get there energy from animal fats not carb,if you look at dogs in the wild were would dogs find carbs ?
  24. I no its a big ask for some one to let me tag along but even if I can be pointed in the right directio, like a local lurcher club or something I would be grateful. I am definetly not looking to hunt with dogs on a whim,I have had a long interest in sight/running dogs and hunting now have the opportunity and space to have another dog It's seems a good time to learn how to do this sport properly before I buy a pup,I am also not new to dogs and have spent alot of time on my current dog and have quite a good idea of how to keep a dog conditioned although because he is firstly a family pet I'm r
