  1. your lucky to get a good one, i had 3 in the space of 2 months and they all went wrong
  2. the pedreti is quiter than the others and handle better as its shorter. Its a very capable tool
  3. Obviously you've now found out that pecar has shut up shop i have a few new pecar number 2 rets going spare. Mine are for the 4-10 variables. £55 + postage if your interested. These are/were £90 new. I'll pm you a contact number in case your interested.
  4. the best time for squirrels is in the back end of the year as there nice and fat then after gorging on all the berries etc through the year.
  5. And we all know that badgers get killed by cars regularly
  6. this it what the pedreti looks like Its around 7 inches shorter that the Baikal hushpower but its the same length as my fabarm o/u with 28" tubes so its very pointable and far easier to aim than the others. I've used both now and this is by far the quietest the only drawback is you get a cold left hand carrying it and its slippy to hold on to so I've just stretched a section of bike inner tube over half the can and boy does it make a difference :thumbs-up: PS and no I'm not selling it before you ask this ones staying put, there's a guy on the BBS selling a pedreti ( motley), he wants
  7. they are very tasty but you must gut and skin then straight away like sheep otherwise its like mission impossible. Make sure you dont catch the sent glands when skinning, if you do just bin it ( and believe me you will know if you catch them). Your better just prepping from the ribs back but if you've only got a couple of squirrels use it all. I just seasoned and oiled it and bunged it in the oven for 25 Min's In all fairness i like squirrel now and then for a change but its a lot of faffing around for the meat that you get. Now i just use a smoker as you get nice flavours, if i get the cha
  8. selling the trusty bus She's a v plate 99 with 150k on the clock, in very clean condition and drives superb, its got air-con, abs, electric windows/mirrors, tow-bar, heated mirrors that tilt in electrically for tight gaps. Cambelt was fitted at 134k and she had a new set of injectors last year but smokes slightly (like most diesels if driven by a woman round town). Has 11months tax and mot'ed untill November i think, also has 3/4 of a tank of fuel !!. The only reason i,m selling is due to picking up a more newer motor at a price i couldn't say no too . Price is £2,700 no offers as
  9. yep i phoned eley a couple of days ago and ther just waiting for the primers now they reakon they will be all sorted and dispatching subsonic orders by the end of next week. So with anyluck they wont be much longer now. But i,ll drop you a pm when i get them in Darren.
  10. its a bit of a dodgy pic to tell but in the bag was 1 rook, 1 crow 2 jackdaws and a collard dove. There was a further crow and 3 collard doves that came down in large watering hole that looked about a foot deep and very boggy so decided to leave them for the foxes. Still I'm glad i got a few as i need some more bait for the fox trap to which i still haven't had any luck as yet
  11. Went out today with the intention of catching a few branchers but spotted none whatsoever, spoke to the farmer and was told that they all took of early about 1 1/2 weeks ago . I'm sure there must be some more that ain't flown yet but i didn't hear any in the nests. Has anyone else noticed them flying early? Anyway all was not lost as i still managed to get a few shot of with the hushpower .410
  12. when there's lots of them there more of a problem as they tend to uproot young crop sprouting in the search for leather jackets and grubs and hang around animal feed stores, its pretty much a 6 of one and a half of a dozen situation as they do good by eating the grubs but cause damage at the same time. You just try to keep there numbers controlled and now is the best time as the young are just starting to build there flying muscles. PS the young rooks make fabulous eating and as the saying goes, make hay whist the suns shines, as you've only got a 2 week window before their gone (the old on
  13. well spotted , I've got some spare mesh but i wont risk welding it on as it will stink for ages so its time to break out the cable-ties again. What length would you recommend for the treadle ? its about 6 inches at the mo ( the treadle that is ). I must admit this isn't the usual method i use for foxing hence all the questions but I'm sure having fun and seriously thinking about fabricating a ladder trap for out on my permission to deal with the rooks. Since Ive started I've come to realise how effective trapping can be :thumbs-up:
  14. cant risk using snares as there in a urban location and I'd risk catching cats and making a racket in the early hours. Its got to be a cage so they can be relocated. Tonight I'll try to bait one end of the cage and keep that door shut and use a sponge coated with fullers earth to support the treadle. Collared dove is on the menu for tonight so lets await tomorrows next exiting installment
  15. ok I've covered the floor with soil but i had the same result last night (1 hedgehog) i also baited outside the trap using a pigeon and all that was left was a few feathers and the wings I'm sure now that if i can stop the hedgehogs tripping the cage I'll manage to catch the buggers. Any ideas how to adjust the sensitivity of the catch, I can email you a pic of the cage if required. Its has a vertical sliding doors both ends with the paddle in the middle. I've had a think about what you've said about making a hanging bait trip and the only method i can think of is by hanging the bait from th
  16. I know where their earth is but i dont have access to it so all i can pretty much do is is place the trap on a known run (about 10 yards from the hole) and hope they take the bait. As there urban foxes i think I'll try a chicken carcass or fishy cat food like some of you said as this would probably be their main diet anyway.
  17. at the min i,ve got the bait cable tied to the top of the treadle so. Is this wrong ? should it be under
  18. Just been asked to "re-locate" some foxes, I've got the trap and spade but I'm just wondering what the best bait to use, I've tried a squirrel and a rabbit but all I've caught up to date is a hedgehog . It maybe that I'm placing the trap wrong so any advice you offer will be appreciated. cheers Matt
