  1. OK cool, As long as I know its regular maintenance I can keep on top of it, luckily I had my alan keys with me at the time, but didnt realise I would need to check it over regularly.
  2. Just wandering if its common or not? Ive got a hatsan mod 60, which Ive only fired about 700 or so rounds through at the range. My last trip was getting really frustrating with having to re zero the scope every 20 shots or so. Just before I was due to go home I realised one of the top clamp alan bolts was missing and all the rest were really loose or about to fall out. I found the missing bolt on the floor and done them all up good and tight, what I wasnt sure about was if this is a likelly effect of the springers recoil and something needing checking regularly or if the shop didnt tighten
  3. A few guys from Plymouth come down to the South Devon Airgun Club, which Ive just joined Its based in Paignton so its a bit of a drive away, but it seems a good range to me with 3 different ranges based in an old quarry. Ive certainly found them very friendly and helpful to new members. I dont think they have a website, but let me know if you want contact details etc.
  4. On the gun originally mentioned Ive recently bought one of them, brand new, with 3-9x40 scope and mounts, bag, and a tin of pellets for £165.
  5. The scope in question was Im pretty sure an aftermarket one, Trying to recall back to the guns purchase many years ago, I believe the original purchaser upgraded to the 4x40 from the standard scope, which was next to useless, I believe the silencer was an extra as well... My father in law who used to hunt rabbits with a live fire rifle and do clay pigeon shooting with a shotgun thought it was a nice scope, Ive got no base of experience from which to judge it. Whilst on the subject of scopes the shop Im getting my new gun from is doing a bundle deal (I guess they all do), is a hawke sport H
  6. I assumed it was on the low side for a ratty , but Im new to this stuff. I have considered keeping it to modify at a later date, Ive seen some interesting things done to them and I like the way they come apart so easily. But I have to justify the new gun to the wife. So selling the old one to pay towards the new one gets that done, and a springer at close to the legal limit with a scope will bring me a step closer to the goal of rabbiting. Im joining a club tomorrow so I can start practising to make sure I can get good clea head shots before I go out and get some permissions. Joinin
  7. I felt the scope was over powered, given the limited usefull range of the gun, but at the gun shop doing the testing (not the selling) they told me it was ideal for the usefull range of the gun for hunting purposes (rats at relatively close range). The guns clearly no good for rabbiting at 20-30 yards. I would guess being on a target range its different. Ive not had a chance to test accurate shooting over real distances yet. I guess that although the magnification "looks" good when looking across the valley etc to my untrained eyes, its a bit different to seeing your pellet hole at real ra

  9. Im not 100% certain on the pellet brand, the tin lid wasnt on, I believe it was a 14.5 weight I think it might have been RWS super domes. It made a less than spectacular 7.45 ft lbs, an average 481 FPS. That was with a fresh co2 cartridge put in at the start of the test.
  10. Just to thank the OP, I had my air rifle checked today because of this thread and it is definetely legal, but at least I know that for sure, peace of mind. I will also because of this thread be very careful with any future purchases as well.
  11. Hi there, Im looking at buying myself a springer to replace my crosman 2250b, Hoping to sell the crosman to recoup some of the cost. Ive got no idea at all on second hand gun values, its got a silencer and 4x40 scope it works fine and its just been serviced with all new seals etc, although there are some minor rust patches in places. As I understand it these guns arent particularly desireable, so I was just wandering what price I should set to sell it reasonably fast. Also wandering if Im best splitting it and selling the pieces on ebay...
  12. To get home cooked chips tasting a bit more like fish shop chips deep fry them as normal then wrap them in greaseproof paper then a newpaper style paper for 5-10 minutes! Its amazing what a difference it makes. I use greaseproof paper I picked up at a cash and carry meant for the job to do this. I started doing this after being put on to it by a former chip shop owner.
  13. He has checked that mate......unfortuntely a no go.....cheers anyway.. Sorry to hear that, thought it was worth trying, perhaps I will think more kindly on the practise next time Im wanting to switch insurers at renewal time. Unfortunately my next line of advice would be to see if he had legal expenses cover on contents insurance through his bank etc etc and to see if that will help him in his situation, at the very least he may be able to get free advice on what is best to do. As far as I can see an offence has been commited and from here on out professional legal advice is what h
  14. Might be worth making sure that he actually hasnt got insurance, many companies automatically renew your insurance for you unless you fight them tooth and nail to stop them renewing. Precisely to stop people being in your friends situation. Just because the renewal date has passed doesnt mean the policy hasnt been auto renewed.
  15. A bit like this thread........... You wouldnt happen to also be a keen cyclist would you? Im sure I remember a forum name of archie and a sig like yours on a cycling forum before...
