  1. You can get Hungarian models with variable magnification also. 1.25-4x24, 2.5-10x56 and 3-12x50 However, optical properties of German models are better!
  2. The build quality of German models is better and also optical properties in low light are different a bit.
  3. Mostly this is a problem of low priced scopes. So called Eyebox is better with scopes of higher quality. Some adjustments can be made if you use the scope at lower magnifications and if the mounting is good enough that no major adjustments have to be made with turrets when zeroing.
  4. Save the money and buy Leica or Zeiss. Swarovski Laser Guide is also top quality but a bit big and expensive.
  5. In this price range I would rather suggest scopes from European manufacturers like Docter, Kaps or Kahles. The VX-R scopes do have really good illumination but they also have quite narrow field of view and are just not as good as European scopes in low light situations.
  6. It is no problem to order them from EU and given the Pound - Euro ration this is even more economical.
  7. We have different opinions, there is nothing wrong with that. Nikon Monarch X opposite to ProStaff is IMHO optically great and only real other option in this price range is IOR. Anyone of these is a great choice in 1000-1200€ price range and will not let you down.
  8. @charlie I sell scopes, I test them and I take care for warranty claims when they come back. Pro Staff is not as sharp as Vortex Diamondback or Bushnell Banner. End of story for me.... If you believe me or not its your choice. I also have to say that I do not care about user reviews since most of the users does not have more than 10 scopes in the entire life and they almost never compare different scopes side by side. They buy one scope and after that it is for them the best scope on the market. I on the other hand have the privilege that I am able to compare scopes side by side and
  9. Well I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience,(though you do not tell us what it was) however I will reiterate, I challenge anyone to suggest a better, brighter, more asthetically pleasing scope for 165 ish quid, the build quality is way way above, all your Hawk,Nikko,Tasco, ect, and lets not forget, in the world of cameras Nikon are at the top of the game,I dont (unfortunately) work for Nikon, I just feel that their products are brilliant. Optically the Diamondback scopes from Vortex are better and so are also Burris and Sightron scopes in this price class. The difference is also th
  10. My experience with Nikon Prostaff are not so great and would not recommend one. For low price scopes I would look at Vrotex Diamondback or Bushnell Banner. A good test of scopes in this class can also be found here: http://opticsthoughts.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=29:qinexpensive-scopeq-comparison&catid=4:rifle-scope-reviews&Itemid=4
  11. The color and contrast on Leicas are nicer but the Zeiss is brighter in low light (due to Abbe-Koenig prisms). Swarovski El is somewhere in between.
  12. Bushnell Legend scope have lenses fully-multicoated (all surfaces) and have good light transmission for this price range. In the dark they are even brighter than the former Elite 3200 series. Since they stop producing these scopes with the presentation of Legend Ultra HD rifle scopes they now can be bough at really good prices from old stocks.
  13. Panorama series is much better than Sport HD so I would recomend you go with Panorama 3-9x40 or 4-12x40.
  14. I would recommend Kahles CBX for dusk or dawn use over Z4i. CBX has first focal plane reticle (better for low light) and has a lot less tunnel vision at lower magnifications than Z4i. I also dont like the illumination button on Swarovski Z4i since it feels very fragile. If you buy Swarovski go with Z6i and you will not regret it. Z4i on the other hand is not the best scope they made in my opinion. Other option in this segment I would also consider in your place is the new Zeiss Victory HT.
