  1. Just wanted to put a bit of a thanks out to the lads who take the time to share their experience and tips with the newbies really. Have seen many crows down on my permission lately but haven't had the money to purchase any crow deeks to lure them in. Was reading a thread which basically said that a cheap way to make cheap crow deeks is to just pull black socks over pigeon shells and there you have it! Put some out today and worked a treat, brought 4 down and missed a lot more haha, will defiantly be leaving a pair of socks or two in my decoy bag from now on ha. Keep em coming lads and thanks
  2. So I had just cleaned out the stinkers (1 hob and 2 Jill's) and put fresh food and water in their bowl. went into the house to make a brew and when I looked out through patio doors the hob took a little drink of the water then started paddling it all out onto the sawdust. It was really strange to watch, it was like he was digging but flicking the water out. And I thought ferrets didn't like water lol! Anyone any ideas when the weirdo was doing ha? Happy hunting DHG
  3. If you go onto rimfire, centre fire on main page. There is a fox shooting subsection bud
  4. haha you crank!! and ill have a battery as soon as you pull ya finger out and get me one lol
  5. totaly agree with that after the last two outings fenland, had full body, shells, wobblers, horse shoe patterns, scattered pattern and seen hardly any birds lol. If they aint there the decoys cant do their job lol. hoping this new whirler will draw some in with the extra movment. had a look on your site too, looks good mate and fair prices too.
  6. I'm with you bud, cheers for that and taking the time to reply
  7. Just bought my first whirler, now I know the basic principle of them and its too add movement to the pattern. But has anyone got any advice and tip of the best way to use it, where to put it etc? Atb DHG
  8. Haha sometimes it's better being on ya own pal, other people talk and make ya miss birds (well that's my excuse lol) and dogs although they mean well get on ya tits lol. Sure a mate will wanna get in on it when ya start with the big bags. How long u been at it pal? Atb
  9. Hey bud, net size depends on how many of you will usually be shooting or if u take the dog with u. I find a 3x1.5 meter is ample. The bigger the net the more effort to blend in, and a large decoy bag is a good thing to have. A1 seem good too, bought some full body decoys and they were delivered fast. Hope this is a help Atb
  10. Sounds like they cnt see the Forrest through the trees mate, people forget to give a dog what it needs and concentrate on what the dog can give them. Even though dogs have been domesticated for a long time they still have primal needs and the most important is its place in a pack. From what u have said it seems that it is a verry nervouse dogs, and if it hasn't been properly broken to the things u have mentioned (quads, horses, etc) then it is going into fight or flight mode. If the dog doesn't feel safe/ protected by its owners then it will take on that role it's self as protector. You hit th
  11. After I cleaned the rabbit up it turned out she was pregnant but it had its back to us in a fairly strong head wind. It's the yellow bitch in my gallery photos, she 24kg an fast for a lab. I'm as shocked as you guys but yeh well chuffed about it. Havnt worked them on Game birds yet as I am just applying for my SGC but she is a keen retriever and was carrying the rabbit around for me after I dispatched it. She might just be a bit of an all rounder haha.
  12. So were walking up the centre hedge row of our field with all our gear, I'm walking infront with the labs on the leads hoping to push anything out back into the burrows. When my mate grabs me from behind and tells me to stop and points out a rabbit sat in the middle of the right hand field with its back to us as we were walking into a head wind. So just for te crack I took lead of the dog scruffed her and pointed her in the direction of the rabbit around 60 yards away. After a little whisper in her ear getting her wound up I sent her off, straight away she was on it running hard in the rabbits

  18. The old saying goes when its bad its bad but when its good then its bloody good, well I think myself and my hunting pal have seen both these extremes. After bumping into an old friend after a few years of not seeing eachother I was quickly drawn in to air rifel and ferretting forms of pest controll. He took me to his permissions and shared alot of his knowledge with me, after sharing the storys of my days with another friend we decided that we would put or selfs out there and try and find our own permissions. After weeks and weeks of refusals and being told 'come back next year lads', my h
