  1. Interesting thread as I'm currently thinking about buying a 'shooting' wagon. Got around a 1000-1500 to spend and currently thinking Shogun or Trooper. Cant believe the 500 motor with tax and test has disappeared bloody government and the scrap-age scheme I suppose!! Any opinions on the Shogun, what to look for, what to avoid?
  2. Another vote for checking the barrel band, they're easily knocked and this moves the zero of by miles, also no real need to fill it to the max 190, my .177 performs far better when filled to 160ish. Come over to the air arms forum there's loads of info on there inc. strip down guides, parts are relatively inexpensive and they're easy to work on
  3. Cheers for the comments chaps
  4. Hi All Turned up at the permission yesterday and the ole boy was at my van before I even had got me boots on, 'follow me' he said - 2 rabbits in the walled garden!! 'No matter what I do to try and get rid of em' they just look at me and laugh' the ole boy wasnt happy (he's been chasing them, throwing things at them - nout works ), a quick wander with him and one coney sat amongst the veg looking at us, looking at him, from about 10' away - best get the rifle out!! Well within 20mins, both bunnies in the bag! A few hours spent wandering around the rest of the estate and the end result, plus a
  5. Quick wander around the small holding perm this afternoon and managed to bag my first one - ever, wanted the other one but too much blood rush and spooked it, theres always next time. Dont laugh at my 2 quid kneeler, light as a feather and beats sitting on damp nettles
  6. Cheers gents I love it there, glad the write up reads ok. if you check out my other post, strangely called - 1st time out on new perm you'll see pics from the other corner of the estate and woodland area, its really a lovely place to be
  7. Hi All Just a few more pics and the end result from yesterday mornings visit to the new'ish estate garden. Never been very good at writing so bare with me. Entering the wooded area to begin my stalk I could see 4 large coneys right at the bottom, a slow stalk and getting down behind an oak tree, bipod out could just make out the first targets head between a V shaped trunk around 35yds, a few shallow breathes and trigger pulled, number one in the bag. Laying amongst the trees in the woodland waiting for the bunnies to give themselves away, a huge old dog fox came wandering passed within 15yds
  8. Cheers gents. Its not the perfect permission but it'll do Mike and as you say there's a job that needs to be done, might take a while me thinks , caravan in the corner - you want a change of scenery
  9. Hi Guys Thought I,d share a few pics of my new perm with you lads. A few pics of the wooded area of my 8 acre estate garden and the end result of 3hrs Tuesday morning getting to know the place. Could've stayed all day but didn't want to out stay my welcome. After a brief walk around, quick zero check and the wind changing direction and scattering everything within sight I had to have a change of tactics, so began the approach from the other end of the garden, end result 4 in the bag. So many bunnies I kept falling over them, loads of woodies and magpies too, not seen any squizzers yet thoug
  10. So you sucombed to the pcp race then Mike, bet it was our conversation regarding the S410 I bought instead of your 97k . Good luck with the sale/aution/swap Aaron
  11. I think thats almost an impossible question to answer as you not going to be filling up from empty, just keep topping it when you get low and when you cant top anymore - get it filled I'm sure someone with a calculator will be along shortly though
  12. No bait exaclty, but i shoot on a small holding so theres loads of chicken and goose feed about
  13. They are very aware of changes to their environment, I've found building a hide and leaving it up for a few days to be the best, make sure that it doesnt give away your silohutte i.e you cant see through it. Movement is key, or lack of it, dont look up and follow the birds with your eyes just keep still with your focus on the target area and they'll come in if there is something to be had. Camo is confidence boaster but not essential, I've sat in the hide in jeans and tee shirt with just a hat on to break up my bodyshape a bit and they still come in. They're that clever they'll be watching y
  14. they are nice but how on earth do you choose the one take out ?!? Too much choice for me!
  15. Ronnies are far better than Donaldsons imho, you can try before you buy at Ronnies, the staff have a better knowledge on air guns and are a lot more helpfull from my experience.
