  1. yer i supose mate i dont really know teh guy who told me it... imho though i like them i think there pretty good dogs....

Don't get me wrong FF; I love Salukis and have owned pure desert bred and crosses and would have one again, but intelligent, they're not !! LOL !!

    Cheers.

ive owned lurchers for over 40 yrs and the most intelligent dogs ive owned have been salukis and saluki crosses the most consistant dogs ive owned have been saluki crosses and you will not get better feet than a salukis i personally would not entertain a dog if it didnt have saluki blood in it but every one has theyre preferences
  2. reynaldo snipes v larry holmes

john mugabe v james sawn off green two great fights holmes on the deck gets up to win all out war mugabe and green batter each other maybe green took more out him than people realised he come up short in his fight with hagler after

  3. ive got no probs with my dogs full stop how many dogs have i got 8 all of them can stop hare single handed two of them are under 12 mths old the oldest is ten i have worked lurchers for over 40 yrs and have run them on a regular basis all over the country day and night last thursday i was in lincoln last saturday i was in salisbury ive been out lamping every night with my youngsters and i will be out tonight with em my dogs are worked to the hilt and always will be they are working dogs . there is no substitute for experience and i can assure you that waiting around for 12 to 18 mths you will never attain the full potential from your animal thats if your capable of getting that potential or the dog as got the potential to make a top class animal a dog learns best when it is young and impressionable not when it is 18 mths old a dog should be flying at that age not starting out . you talk about bone and other things not being mature what a load of twaddle lurchers are born to run and from a young age thats what they do deformities in bone have nothing to do with working a dog to young the blame lies firmly at the door of the show fraternity not from working a dog to young what do you think the drovers of yesteryear done when they were driving cattle and sheep hundreds of miles across the country do you think they left thetre pups tied to a tree to pick up on the way back two or three mths later or do you think they took em with em and let em run and walk 20 to 30 miles a day or the hill farmer whos livelihood depended on his dogs being able to run the mountains all day on the roughest of ground do you think he left his dog at home until it was 12 to 18 mths old before he started to train it then found out that it wasnt going to make the grade i dont think so do you . no my friend you need to get em young and regular thats the way you get the best out of them and give them the best of chances to make the grade please dont try to undermine me because i put a couple of pics up because i can put dozens up in fact i will put some up in the morning from tonights venture out with some 10 mth old saluki pups im running .

  4. all my dogs are started around 6 mths old if they are bred right they are more than capable of catching at that age i cant wait around 12 to 18 mths to see if its capable of making the grade ive had pupps at 9 and 10 mths old doing 20 pluses regular on the lamp heres one im running now shes 14 mths old in the pics shes 7 mths old

  5. we didnt get to see any thing near the numbers we usually see robert so i think it was dissapointing on brans behalf from that side of things when one considers the distance he travelled but what i seen of these animals on they are very very good dogs and any one buying one of these pups i can guarantee in the right hands they wont be dissapointed

  6. put it this way dope ive forgotten more than an arrogant little twat like you will ever know and have come across plenty like you when ive been out and about now go and get your camo suit on and go and play little keeper boy out in the woods with your whistle and dont forget to take a pocket of corn with you

  7. if theres a public footpath this man as got the right to walk his dogs 24 7 the keeper and the farmer should have considered this before putting rearing pens or game cover crops with in the vicinity of a public foot path and considered the law regarding shooting near a public boundary another thing they should consider is the public walking these foot paths are also the tax payers who are paying to the massive subsidies these land owners are creaming out of the public coffers year in year out . what all the fuss is about i dont know if these semi domesticated birds are moved on they will soon be back for theyre dinner in plenty of times for jeeves and his man to blast em at point blank

  8. i seen some of these animals run last saturday i seen the father run a very good animal . very clever on with a good mouth his sister was electric these pups are a steal at the money being asked for them if they were in some kennels about the country the asking price would be 5 or 6 hundred quid a pup

  9. i think this site will be worse off with out mark in my book hes a top bloke who works his dogs to the hilt and knows how to walk the walk . there is a certain element on here that seem forever wanting to take the piss and wind him up . and theres one thing he wont do is take a backward step as far as his dogs are concerned and why should he . he posts quality threads about his dogs and what they achieve in the field and why shouldnt he. he puts the proof up to go with it he always ready to invite people down to hunt with him he gives them the best of welcome and hospitality while they are there.

the help he gave over my lads dog no one could have done more even getting them in the end to admit to him the dog was stolen shows the mans qualities i think certain people on here should take a back ward step and stop letting jealousy get the better of them they might learn some thing then like asd says weve had our differences but true dog men recognise each other and respect each other and underhanded tricks dont come into it when mark rings me he always sings other peoples praises and respects them for thetre achievements in the field even if hes just had a blue with them 5 mins earlier . some times hes probably to straight and wont back down from a challenge . ive got a lot of very good friends around the country friends i respect and would always help out if the need arose markbrick is certainly one of those friends . a top class dogman and at the end of the day aint this site suppossed to be about dogmen

  10. sire gaskins tramp sire of the forley winner which sold for 11 grand on the day

tramp was purchased at one time for 15 grand and is not at public stud so its a rare occurence when these bloodlines become available to the general public

    dam lucy sniper x nancy.

lucy featured in the edrd in june or july edition of last year both these parents were top class single handed dogs in theyre prime

  11. ive kept lurchers for 40 yrs and experienced all types of crosses in my experience the saluki and saluki crosses are the most intelligent dogs ive ever kept.people dont realise the intense prey drive these animals possess and misinterpret this as being dull theyre eyesight is phenominal . they can spot things like birds moving in grass from hundreds of yards away couple this with the prey drive intensity in them and nothing will break that determination all the screaming and shouting in the world wont stop them . but if you are capable of harnessing these qualities and bringing out the best of these attributes in these dogs you will have a world beater in your yard . look at the way they work a strong hare in the winter . any old crossbred can kill hares in the summertime and stubble . but it takes a special dog to kill consistantly in the winter and its only salukis and cross bred salukis that can do this and it takes brains and determination ie the prey drive to do this they can be frustrating in the early stages because you wont rush them or bully them into doing things

but once the penny drops they are awsome animals what ever your game weather its lamping ferreting coursing foxing or bigger stuff . theyre timing with the strike is the same its usually only the onece not repetitively .again this is an indication of intelligence how they get in behind settle there line it up and up with it . they are unique in the way they can course a strong hare not being thrown out by him but sitting in behind him anticipating every move he makes boxing him of cover sitting back of him when theyve broken him from the cover and then drawing back to him when they have to and then having a go at him only a dog of high intelligence can do this . a lot of people who give negative comments about salukis and saluki crosses really have had very limited experience of them but once youve had experience of a good un nothing else quite measures up after theres very good animals out there dont get me wrong . but the saluki tends to bring a little bit more to the table

  12. get rid of her asap a cart never drives the same once another horse has been between the shafts i had the same thing happen to me she left me to bring my kids up on my own now i look back on it and look at her and realise how lucky i was to get out when i did

  13. months tally over 500 rabbits 17 foxes 21 flushed hares 3 roe. i dont think this lad can count, has more than what most people have in aseason

unless he was running over 500 dogs

wouldnt you be better of trying to learn some thing from people who are out in the field doing it rather than showing your short comings with replys like this your getting to sound like some of the mods on this site they are amateurs as well

  14. well if he is gone this site wont be long about behind him . theres an element of tossers on here that do nothing but slag every thing that genuine dog men post and one things certain theres not many genuine dog men on here . love or hate the man say what you like but theres no getting away from the fact those two bitches are top class animals .(and if the clowns that slagged him time after time owned any thing near as good they wouldnt stop shouting but they will never own any thing near as good because they aint got the know how or the get up to bring a dog to that standard ) what needs to be done on this site is a general clear out of a lot of tossers of here .people who never post anything about theyre own dogs because they got nothing to post only criticism about other peoples dogs because the idiots are jealous . theres to many five minute wonders on here and as long as that element remain slowly but surely the genuine dog men will drift away

  15. eeeerrrrr brookie are you pissed?????????? you mentioned 45 seconds in your post at the top of this page.

so what are you actualy saying then brooki . do you think a saluki would win over 350 yards ????

no im not pissed although id like to get pissed after staying on this thred putting up with this bullshit now go back tomo and read the thred tydy and you will see that i said your greyhound will have jacked 45 secs and that pillock millet said that the greyhound would blitz the saluki and he would back any money so i said i would take his bet and i will the trouble with this site is there is so much bullshit put up by people looking to to argue and you sit back ignoring it for so long but when some one does respond then the jokers who by what they put up show theyre ignorance in theyre inexperience in dog work start spouting bollocks and causing arguments like i say a greyhound would not blow wind up a salukis arse fact . ive never seen a greyhound worth a wank both on the track or in the waterloo cup all ive ever seen of em in the waterloo cup give em 400 yrds and the rubbish are treading water now consider this get onto a bit of plough or a piece of rough set aside see where your greyhound is on level slips like i told him i will put the land up and fetch the dinero just fetch the greyhound and carry the rubbish of the field dont bother responding because im fed up now but the bet will stay open
  16. where in my post did i mention 45 seconds you clown he made a refernce which stated that the greyhound would blitz the saluki i say bullshit dont tell me about greyhounds because i trained em for years on the track and on the coursing field and trained em to break track records sprinting and put a dog into the semi finals of the last welsh derby which was won by instant ganbler the brother to balliniska band which won the english derby the same year and the litter brother linacre won the scottish derby the same year i was 22 yrs old at the time our dog was later found to have had a long term shoulder niggle which had gone undetected not bad for a youngster as for coursing greyhounds heres a pic of two i trained for a bloke so dont try to educate me about greyhounds pal im in a position to give opinions because ive experienced both salukis ive got three pures and greyhounds both on the track and the field and ive yet to see a greyhound that can blow wind up a salukis ares my old china be f****d if i will be tried to look a fool in front of a buch of amateur pricks like you now get back to your plummer comics

Thank's for you nice reply to what i think and i dont think it warrented me being called a first class idiot..

I dont have a greyhound but im sure if i could get hold of a fit 600yrd track dog that is pulling in good lap time's and winning race's against other greyhound's..would certainly leave any kind of running dog in the distance ..so in my eye's your post is from a first class idiot.. :clapper: ..

    Millet

in other words your backing out i can supply you with any amount of greyhounds you can take your pick of dozens of em put your greyhound on open land on hare surely thats the ultimate speed test give the hare 100 yrds and i will tell you where your greyhound will be after the first bend being tailed of and ultimately jacking within 45 seconds tail up in the air like a helicopter and as for the other quote of another contributor to this thread about a greyhound running 2kls theres not a greyhound in the country that could run 2 kilometres . the trouble with a lot of you clowns is you try to talk the talk but have definately never walked the walk so when ever you fancy this gamble millet dont hesitate to contact me because you know what they say about talk its cheap
  18. Ive watched them coarsing greyhound's run in the warterloo cup several time's..ive also seen saluki's and saluki X's run ..and if anyone was willing to have a bet on it i would put good money on the coarsing grey to blitz a saluki.. ..if not lap it.

    Millet
