  1. Hey all.

Spoke to a friend of mine regarding permission to ferret on his land, he's a beef farmer and one of the only landowners i know. He said it was no problem to come around anytime but also said he hadnt seen a rabbit in years, plenty of hares and foxes but no rabbits. He said locals say myxi cleared the area years ago.

My query is, do areas usually recover and re populate after myxi and if so how long? Its my only sign of permission so im sort of devastated theres no rabbits but at the same time thinking well its a step on the ladder to maybe getting some more permission of other farmers. And also im thinking if there is unused burrows i could use them to train my ferrets when i get them?

Just to keep the sport going i would go eles wer net up and take them back to that permission and leave it for a year or so let em build up then hit it next year! end of last season we entered bunnys back in to are local park 3 female and 1 male and now there is well over 40 spotted and counted at night  thats what i would do seen as you already have the permission ATB
  2. I am looking for a good terrier x whippet for a bit of rabbiting/bushing etc... It will be working on the heather moorland - dense cover... I would prefer to buy a young started dog but I am interested in puppies also...

    Thanks

beddy whippet? i work a full laguna whippet and he loves bushing a good 20% of his seasons catches will be bushing so just because terriers bush doesnt mean you need a terrier cross whippet to do both  dont get me wrong may do the job better but ide look in to what you really need 1st get more advice. ATB keep me posted on what you get!! :boogy:
  3. just a warning been over a few of my permission's to ensure the owners are still ok for me to ferret, and to check on the old sites and any new ones before the season started. Any way have noticed afew mixy rabbits these are in the frodsham, st.helens and warrington area, so just a heads up, could be a poor season if it takes hold, this warm, damp weathers not helping in keeping the flea population down.

Same here went for a big walk round my permission and just mooched round and there is a lot more bunnys with mixie than i have ever seen this year :cray: but anyways ATB ppl  keep the posts comeing :boogy:

all opinions and views welcomed lads cheers

  6. hi guys i suspect my ferret of having a furball stuck in the throat/belly iv read up on this and people have used a ferret laxative,,to get rid of it,does anyone know where i can get some from,,my jill ferret first was sick ,and now today have been coughing?i want to treat her for a furball just to rule it out!any ideas of how i can help my ferret or where i can get some ferret laxative from? atb ft ps ferret laxative is sold on ebay but it has to come from america, and that will take ages,so was thought of asking thl members? atb

Had ferrets myself for a number of years and my friend has for the past 30 years and he has never heard of this ither! best bet is take it the vet or phone up and ask to talk to the nurse and explain in detail, am sure they will help. better to be safe! ferret is just as important as a dog  ATB mate keep us posted :bye:
