  1. Relatively new to this site but ITS FAB :welcomeani:
  2. Foxtrack each to there own thats what I think I myself don't like digging to be honest I would rather shoot charlie.I don't think that just because my black dog hasn't been to ground with charlie she isn't a worker.I have kept her away because I keep her for rats and finding shot roe deer and don't want her disappearing down an earth whilst looking for a shot deer. I think that ratting is more exciting than having to dig down to a baying terrier och OK I am too bloody lazy
  3. I agree with Simoman you'll never get permission until some questions are answered. I wouldn't let you on my ground without knowing what you were after! We have long dog men on some of our ground but they know what they are allowed to take and what they aren't allowed.
  4. I stalk for the forestry commission and tilhill,I stalk 20 miles west of Edinburgh on ground perfect for munties and have never seen any.I have also heard stories but never saw any evidence. I am counting on them moving north.
  5. A sad loss mate.A crackin lookin dog too.
  6. I agree with foxhunter and I wish they would hurry up and cross the border so I can stalk this little deer.I have been invited down to Wiltshire for a few days muntjack stalking at the end of February and I can't wait.I'll post the photo's as soon as I get back.
  7. :welcome Hello scotrat we could do with your services here in Kent. Know you do rats but our problem is moles mate. theyre everywhere. What happened to the molecatchers? last year and this year never seen so many molehills.in the fields along the tracks and in the back yard keep tripping over them. Best dog I had for rats was a westie terrier would you believe. :welcomeani: The mole problem what can I say we can't get strichnine anywhere and its too bloody mild the moles are lovin it.Mole catchin is a dying trade we use gas now but I don't think it works too well.Setting traps is too time
  8. Cheers all this site is a good un
  9. It states in the current Firearms law that "where possible" written permission should be sought but this is just guidance not LAW.The problem is that some police forces take guidance a bit far.So as for the police not knowing I think the shooters should read a bit more and not listen to Firearms departments giving excuses for refusals .I have had an open certificate and have had for over 20 years and I shoot with an ex Firearms officer.
  10. We pay £14.50 for .243 winchester 100grain and £15.50 for 100grain federal Unless you are going to reload 100's a week it simply not worth the time and effort. My mate reloads and its a passion to him getting the right loads ect but i'll say something for his reloaded ammo its absolutely brilliant so accurate compared to factory ammo
  11. I totally agree baldie it's always better to have written permission with you.All my customers do sign a contract prior to any works being carried out as you say for insurance and its always better if you have a signature for payment issues. Some police will remove firearms they have that right if you haven't got your FAC but when it comes to no written permission they don't have that right and will usually check with the farmer in the morning or as you say they do in Scotland
  12. Baldie man I am a professional pest controller and don't take this the wrong way but there is nothing in the law that states you need a letter to say you have permission. All you need is permission from the land owner whether it is a simple phone call or the farmer/landowner telling you to control foxes or vermin. We get pulled on a regular basis as 1 of our farmers neighbours is an anti and calls the boys in blue as soon as she see's our 4x4 in the feilds and we don't have written permission all we have is the say so of the farmer.
  13. Hello all I am a professional pest controller and have a working black fell and seems weird but a crackin working cairn for the rats he's brill. The cairn will also find shot roe deer whilst stalking.
