  1. CG The terriers events are on the Saturday 28th at Moira and no one is quarantined in a bog at the front of the show. All those entering the lurcher, terrier and whippet events, like everyone else, are entitled to pay the adult entry fee if they want to see round the rest of the show but if they do not wish to they can still enter the showing and racing activities separately. We the event organisers meet with the organising club well in advance of the shows each year and agree where the showing and racing will take place and in what format. Have just had a look at your link. looks like theres lots more for the kids to join in this year. what about this ferret racing could our we ones bring their ferrets to that. what about the lurchers an terriers, hope yous have your judges sorted out, word on the forum is ballywalter show is struggling to get judges agree 100% on gettin the kids involved it must be so boing for them walking around at the parents side give them the ferret racing and showing its only a bit of fun for them prehaps they may look forward to coming back to do it again next year and give them abit of intrest in k

Ireland's Ferreting Guru to Judge NEW Childrens Ferret Competiton at NCF Ireland's ferreting guru, Tony Carinduff will be at the fair with his Ferrets & Ferreting Roadshow and will welcome everyone to his stand which will be located beside the Irish Shooter's Digest stand close to the show's Main Arena. There can be little doubt that the National Countrysports Fair, which is currently Irelands longest continous running country sports event, is again at the fore in providing what is arguably the top weekend of Gundog Events this year. The cream of Irish gundog handlers will be at Moira Demesne for this two-day Festival of Gundogs featuring this new and exciting mix of gundog events designed for all breeds of working dogs.   7. With just a little over 2 weeks to go to the show, we are still receiving some enquiries about the Lurcher & Terrier events. Although the fair itself is running over two days (28 & 29 May), the Lurcher & Terrier events will be staged as follows: SATURDAY 28th MAY ALL Lurcher, Terrier & Whippet Events run by the Gilford Lurcher & Terrier Club RACING - starts at 10.30am SHOWING - starts at 14.00pm Competitors do not have to enter the actual fair to compete and entries can be taken on the day.   13. If you're up for a bit of craic and fancy your chances at ferret racing then why not enter the Ferret Racing competition. New to the fair this year, this fun event pits ferrets against each other in simulated rabbit burrows with the ferrets fastest out of the tubes being judged the winners. Simon and Sarah will organise the racing each day and will have ferrets on-hand if you don’t have yours with you.   14. The fair orgainsers, working along with the Gilford Club, have introduced an international classification to this years events. Those competing at the National Countrysports Fair at Moira will be in with a chance to qualify for the All Ireland Championship which will be held at the Ballinlough Castle Country Fair, Co. Westmeath over the weekend of 16th & 17th July. The top dogs from the Moira Fair will travel to compete against the event winners at the Ballinlough Fair. Thankfully as event organisers of the National Countrysports Fair and the Ballinlough Castle Country Fair, our primary focus is on protecting as many of our respective countrysports and country ways of life as possible, through working to ensure they are preserved for future generations. This too is the ethos of those we work with before, during and after our events. We have no time for gameplay, are even less worried by it and certainly will not be dragged into it.

There is a new and exciting mix of gundog events designed for all breeds of working dogs. We have a number of gundog working tests for retriever breeds and spaniels that are open to all. This year the Gilford Terrier and Lurcher club will host all the earth and running dog events at the fair on Saturday 28 May, commencing at 10:30 with the racing events and continuing at 14:00 with the showing events. Entries can be had on the day of the event. Remember too that car parking is ringside for all the terrier and lurcher events at Moira.
