I would like to work my dog as I think she'd be great at it! I've had a few game keepers say she's be good. It's just having the opportunity to do some. She's a JRT X Parsons so is all leg and very fast (kept up with a deer once for a good few seconds) but also small enough to go to ground. I would put a pic of her up but they are all too big! So currently her hunting is kept to the spiders and flies in the house and playing with the dead rabbits she finds in the fields. She did catch a duck once but made her let it go as tbh I wouldn't have known what to do with it in terms of cooking it!

I agree, I think it's important that dogs socialise, especially off the lead as so many dogs get lead aggression. I usually read what the others dogs bady language is doing. If it looks friendly and the owner is relaxed then I'll let her go up to other dogs, if the person is struggling or the dog has a muzzle on then I'll call her away (and if you're dog does bite it should have a muzzle on as well as a lead as dogs can get loose off their leads). I try not to let her run full pace up to another dog though as I think that's a bit inconsiderate. If you're dogs are trained then it's fine. I've h

I saw it about 7pm. It was still really low and was orange from the sun setting on the other side of the hill. It looked amazing and tried to take a picture of it but it just looked like an orange splodge with my crappy camera on my phone. It looked about the same size as a house! (no exageration!) When I first saw it it was behind some trees and it took me a minute to work out what it actually was!!

You can still train an older dog. The key is to make you more important than everything else (smells, other dogs, etc). Cheese works well but obviously dont give it too much!! Try a squeeky toy that you can also use as a reward when he comes back. Lots of praise to reinforce what he is doing is what you want. NEVER hit him or get frustrated by him - I did this once with a dog a few years ago as he was making me late by messing about in the bushes and his recall went straight downhill and it took me months to get him to trust me again (lesson learnt the hard way!) You get used to how your dogs poo changes with its diet. Mine had some rabbit the other day and her poo was black the next day. If she has raw lamb bone they go a really pale colour and very dry. I would only worry and take the dog to the vet if they are unusual for a period of time, over a week depending on how unusual they are. It might also be worth giving some biscuit type food too as it keeps their teeth and gums healthy.

Go back to basics but it'll take longer to re-train as you have to 'un-do' his current mindset now. Remember he is still a pup so you dont want to be using too extreme methods and loose his trust in you.

Fucithalmic eye cream (from vets) is really good. Gives clear, bright eyes very quickly. Might be worth checking if there's debris in the eye which is causing it to go gunky (altho I'm sure you've prob already done this!)
