  1. Hi to all the experts here lads. Newly converted to lurcher hunting/lamping and must say it is a great buzz to be out with the dog.was a shooter before but this is way better.I have a 18 month old lurcher pup that i am in the middle of trying to training/running.My problem is this, she will catch a rabbit and bring it to within 10 feet of me and then no closer, i know you are not supposed to go to the dog as she thinks this is a game, so i have tried the ignoring bit and waiting till she gets fed up, problem is this, she then starts to eat the rabbit. I was thinking of buying an electric
  2. Hi All i am having the same issue with a 11 month old pup.Catches the rabbit and does this kind of lap of honour thing. I have no probem in the patience issue and have sat and waited but now I find she settles down and starts to eat the rabbit about 10-15 feet away from me. Am i goosed ? any info appreciated. Cheers IB

  5. cheers All was a bit concerned as all her siblings are much bigger, no prob eating and no lack in running around. Have no doubt I will be on again looking for more advice when season really kicks in, and I know that this is her first winter coming so i know to take it very handy with her. One question should i get her neutered in her first year,i dont reaaly think I ever want her in pup. rgds irishboy

Bitch pup 4 months old now, hunted with both parents so know the breed/form.very smooth coat { prefer smooth coated. No doubt I will need yere help and advise along the way,I have her sitting on command at the moment and nearly walking to heel,am i starting to train with her too young ? she is fairly hyper at the moment I suppose that is just because she is still at puppy stage .

  10. Hi All I have got my first lurcher and is 8 weeks old, i dont know what way she is bred but I know there is definitely bull in it, she is housed in a 12ft by 6ft run and has house in this and is let out about 4 times a day for about 30 minutes,my question is this, she goes a bit mental when left out which is fair enough but is a bit nippy especially with my 3 year old, nipping hands ankles etc, tries with me too but i tell her stop but she runs then,is this just immaturity and will she grow out of it, her mother was angelic with kids but lethal in the field,I need this dog to be good around k

  17. Hi Paul I had access to mesh and a welder, hardest aprt was to make hinges for the door and i also need to design something to make sure door stays closed as a big rat could give it a whack.had laready cauhgt 2 starlings in it before rat,and magpies kept setting it off in daylight so now I only set at night.
  18. sorry first pic of complete trap did not work, will try again
