i dug a vixen yesterday,it also had a belly full of grub,i think they fill themselves with food and lie up for a few days in this cold weather,anybody else came across this,atb

[Hound Feed]

Just be carefull on the venison. Most packs wont feed mutton for the reason that they believe it would cause hounds to go for sheep. If that's the truth then venison would most certainly cause your hounds to riot on deer and deer are the hardest game to break hounds too. Their scent is irresistable to hounds.

Maybe cooking will change all that, I don't know.

theres a different scent from dead animals compared to that of live animals,if hounds are chasing deer theyve either not been entered properly or some you just cant stop,ive fed mutton before and it makes no difference,its a lot of work to skin and gut an old ewe for all thats on them it aint worth the bother,if they were to hunt or chase what they were fed then surely they would chase cows if they were fed raw tripe atb

yep mine also struggle,when the frost comes out of the ground so does the scent

fresh raw tripe and biscuits,it hangs on to them for longer, if youre going to feed complete meal make sure its no less than 24% also make sure there bed is warm if not theyll lose weight atb
