  1. Thanks for this, I think you're right when I asked for ideas on a hard terrier I didn't actually mean that hard, I meant one that's hard enough to dive through brambles and not bothered about it mainly. No at the moment I would definitely not want one going to ground and not coming out because you're right, I'm not equipped for it at all and would probably end in disaster. I am so glad I posted this before making any decision because it has opened my eyes to terrier work. i didnt quite understand the concept of proper terrier work becuase I have always just used mine as ratters really and n
  2. 23 1/2 tts 11 months done a bit of work on the lamp early this year, will get more serious this coming season
  3. Thanks mate that's what I was hoping to do to be honest I think once my jrt got a taste for it she'd be good too, though to be honest I haven't come accross many round here, see plenty of foxes i must just be lookin in the wrong places for the dens!!
  4. sum good pick there nice looking dog thanks mate, he's my first lurcher
  5. lol same as him, he HATES cats! but brought him up with the ferrets they chase him round the garden lol. He's only 11 month but had him from 6 week so did my best to get him used to them
  6. She's looking a bit chunky at the minute think I need to cut her snap down a bit
  7. just thought id put a couple of pics up. 2 yo late starter good ratter
  8. bought for my garage second hand but unfortunately didnt fit so had wooden ones made. Got 2 keys for it, good condition, metal painted black but you could paint it any colour you want. Measurements: H: 77" W: 95" Pontefract area West Yorkhsire £30 ONO
  9. Thinking of building some kennels in the near future, for both lurchers and terriers just wondered what sort of set up people have and what works best for them. Seen a few different styles advertised on ebay etc. but I'm wanting to build my own, probably out of breeze block rather than wood, not sure yet though.
  10. Bit of a mixture, should be a good allrounder I would think, I like dogs with collie in them, makes them good to train and intelligent in my experience. Mines collie grey x bedlington collie whippet and he's a bit daft at the minute, only 11 months old but coming on nicely, very high prey drive and starting to use his brain now and calm down a bit. He's also an excellent ratter!! 23 1/2" tts How big are the parents, I would'nt have mine bigger than 24 - 25" as an allrounder dog but each to their own.
  11. Mines on the red mills tracker at the moment, though not really noticed much difference between him being on a normal working dog food to this, though I am converting to a raw meat diet gradually now, has to be the best way.
  12. just make sure it is washed properly, cut it into about 1,lb. weights, place it into plastic freezer bags, and freeze for a week or more, freezing kills all parasites, and then use as you require for your dog, I use this as a mixer with other good meat, and a mixer biscuit, or brown bread nuggets, I do not know the nutritional, values, it contains a lot of fats, and it is a very cheap way of maintaining a dog out of work over the summer months, i allways thought that you take them of tripe in the summer could be wrong ,just heard few people say it ,i,m keeping mine on it over the dry mont
  13. Thanks for the advice just found this article: http://www.truecarnivores.com/greentripe.shtml says that the bleached tripe has almost no nutritional value, I'd been asking around my area for a while about it but so far that was the only place I could get to supply it. I might try contacting the abbotoir direct next time see if it's any cheaper.
  14. i would have thought that most of the tripe you buy is not bleached. i feed mine on it and its green in colour Every butcher I asked around here all they had was bleached stuff as apparently they said they cant sell it unbleached. This is coming straight from the abbotoir but through the local farm shop as it's from their cattle.
  15. Think I'll get some then. It's only £12 delivered for the lot, going to half it with father in law i think as I don't think we'll use it all with just 2 dogs
  16. Been offered by local farm shop a full cut of untreated (not bleached) tripe, anyone fed this before and whats the nutrition in it?
  17. Looks good, I'm just working on extending mine, they've been moved into a hutch at the minute but I like them to have plenty of room keeps them fitter through the summer ready for winter and alot cleaner and less smelly!
  18. I know that isnt real terrier work, but the thing is I work my terriers with my lurcher through the day - hence needing a bushing dog, basically I want a good allrounder if there is such a thing! Mines good but just a bit soft in that she's not great at working cover.. I see what you mean about getting one that won't go to ground though as it would be a pain
