hazel is the best u cant go wrong with that cut ur sticks in winter when the sap is low and then put them in a drain pipe to straighten them leave them there for about 8 months or so and u will have a stick that will last u a long time , if u cut in summer they will be brittle like matches.

ya i had two of mine done about two years ago,and after about a week the swelling came down, and they never came into season again for the rest of the summer,cant remember how much it cost but it was expensive i know that ..............

i have used the mk1 for years went through about 3 of them things always going wrong with em they were not built for hard use end of story the new mk3 are top class pin point the ferret every time i gave away my old mk1 to a guy for free mk3 is the way to go.............

it should beep on locate at around 8 foot or below, make sure that the pin pointer is in the center, when it's on locate mode, move to the highest pitch to find the collar...get someone to hide the collar in your house and practice trying to find it, if the locator is right up to the collar and it is makes no sound and the pin pointer is in the center and it's on locate mode then there is something wrong with the finder...hope this helps..at least it worked for me
